American Idol predictions -- bottom 3 are Constantine, Scott and Carrie with Scott going home. *fingers crossed*

I'm STILL absolutely overwhelmed at work. It's gotten to the point where I'm getting in early and staying late and no matter how hard I work, I'm still not caught up. It doesn't help that 1) we've finally hired my replacement but now that I'm spending a good part of my day training her, I get severely backed up with my new responsibilities and 2) I'm taking Thursday and Friday off because Rob and I are flying to Michigan for his brother's graduation. I'm totally excited to have a long weekend but I just know I'm going to be stressing about the work I left behind and the work that'll be piling up.

See, I can't even relax when I'm at home. EEEK. I need to think about something else...

OH CRAP. I was supposed to do laundry tonight. %$#@! I'm losing my mind.

So the moving has started. Words cannot express how much I despise packing, moving and then unpacking. Ack. Plus, I'm a huge packrat so I have TONS of stuff to sort through. I'm hoping to get rid of most of the "junk" I've accumulated so that I end up tossing most of it rather than schlepping it to my new place. I'm just glad we have another 5 weeks before we officially have to be out of our current apartment. I can take my time and not get all stressed out. I get enough stress from work, thankyouverymuch.

More TV comments...

24
President Logan sucks. Chloe is a badass. Also, Jack and Audrey are SO. OVER.

America's Next Top Model
Did anyone see Tyra go off on Tiffany a few episodes back?!? That was classic. I heart this show. Too bad I don't really care for any of the girls. I can't stand Brittany and Tatiana... I like Rebecca and Kahlen well enough... but there's no one I LOVE. I guess I'm just watching for the drama. And the show definitely delivers.

Smallville
Finally watched Onyx, which I really, really enjoyed (maybe because it was Lex-centric?). I actually sat through the entire episode without getting distracted or fast-forwarding through scenes. It's been awhile since I've been able to say that about Smallville. Plus, Lex/Lana!!! Squee. I haven't watched Spirit yet so don't go bursting my bubble. I bet the storyline will drift back to Clark/Lana soon enough so let me live in my dream world for awhile.

Grey's Anatomy
Yup, still watching (and loving) the show. And especially after last night's episode. Christina/Burke flirtation! I seriously thought I was just imagining the sexual tension between them in last week's scene in the stairwell. But I wasn't! YAY. And it looks like the storyline continues next week. Score.

Doing the Friday Five (yes, I realize it's late :P)...

1. What is the first record/tape/CD that you bought?
I don't remember for certain but it was probably an album by either Tiffany or Debbie Gibson. And it was definitely a tape.

2. Who is your favorite all time band/singer?
Britney Spears. No laughing. I just love her. She's a marketing genius. I just wish she hadn't married that Kevin Federline character. I mourn old Britney.

3. What have you been listening to lately?
The Postal Service. I'm ADDICTED to Such Great Heights, Sleeping In and Recycled Air.

4. What is your favorite radio station, what do they play, and where do they broadcast?
I don't listen to the radio anymore. My iPod has spoiled me.

5. Can you recommend a good song or CD that everyone should listen to?
My current "songs of the moment" are -- Such Great Heights by The Postal Service, Collide by Howie Day and Signs by Snoop Dogg.

WHO is voting for Scott?!? I was totally hoping my prediction would be wrong too. America, you are *killing* me. Seriously.

Because my brain is going to explode if I keep thinking about American Idol, some TV comments (I'm so happy the WB is back from hiatus)...

Jack and Bobby
I didn't think I would still watch this show after Bradley Cooper and Mike Erwin's characters left the cast but I somehow got attached to Jack. He's certainly a very flawed character (screaming at Marcus and Courtney, not supporting Bobby with the track tryouts, dating that awful Katie) but there's something about him that is so genuine. I loved the scene at the end of Friends With Benefits when he began coaching Bobby. Aww.

24
Jack just can't catch a break with the women. His relationship with Audrey was doomed from the start. Poor guy. I don't like her much but I was rooting for them if only to finally see Jack smile at the end of the season. I can't seem to figure out how to feel about Vice President Logan (or well, President for the time being). Is he in on the terrorist activities or is he just the biggest coward ever? He is such a waste of time to me. I'd rather learn more about Marwan and his motivation for the attacks. But that's probably just me.

The OC
First Sandy and Rebecca and now Kirsten and this Carter character. UGH. Stop messing with the Cohens. !!!

Gilmore Girls
Was a little bored with the episode. Plus, no Logan. Paris was a riot, though. And is it just me but does anyone else NOT like Lane and Zach? They just don't do anything for me. And I really like Lane.

One Tree Hill
I may have said this before but I'll say it again -- Haley is dead to me. The episode was so hard to watch with all those great flashbacks of Nathan and Haley. *sniff* And then to see Haley basically take Nathan's heart (after he drove so far to see her!) and stomp on it. I don't think the writers can do anything at this point to make me love her the way I did last season. So glad Felix is finally gone! And I never thought I would say it but I think I'm beginning to like Anna. She was so undefined as a character that I couldn't bring myself to care about her but now I do. I'm kinda rooting for her to stick around. Brooke and Lucas are still bugging me. I really wish the writers would stop projecting Sophia and Chad's real life relationship onto the characters. So aggravating.

Phew. Would you believe I have *more* shows to catch up on? Hee.

Work is still kicking my ass (I have been incredibly exhausted these past few days) but I wanted to post my American Idol predictions before tomorrow's results show (it's kinda fun making my predictions and checking to see if I can guess how the votes stack up)...

Bottom 3 will be Scott, Constantine, and Anwar. And as much as I hate to say it, I think Anwar will be saying farewell. Only because America will not stop voting for Scott. !!! I just don't understand it.

WHAT is up with Paula? The words that come out of her mouth never make sense. It's like she's drunk or on drugs. All the time. I just can't take her seriously.

Vonzell is quickly becoming my favorite (which is currently Carrie but she's been a little snoozeworthy lately). She picks great songs and always seems to be having so much fun when she performs. Aww.

Rob and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary this past week. Aww. :D

Fannish Friday Five --
So you're cleaning all the pollen off your TV screen and a genie pops out. In return for freeing her, she offers to grant you 5 changes to any TV show(s) you wish. With only 5 wishes, what do you wish for?

1. Dawson's Creek back on the air!
2. Go back in time and erase the entire Madison storyline on Everwood.
3. Get rid of Anna, Felix and Chris on One Tree Hill.
4. For America to stop voting for Scott and Anthony on American Idol.
5. Move Veronica Mars to Mondays at 8 so I can actually watch it. (That seems to be the only timeslot where I can accommodate a new show, hee).

Sunday Brunch --
1. Do you eat breakfast on a regular basis and why or why not?
No. I'm just not a morning person so I don't get up early enough to have a real meal. If I do find myself with time, then I'll have a bowl of special K with red berries.

2. What is your typical everyday breakfast?
Coffee or Earl Grey tea from Starbuck's

3. How do you eat your eggs?
I love omelettes, especially with ham and cheese. YUM. But really, I'll eat eggs any way...scrambled, sunny-side up, etc.

4. What is your favorite restaurant to eat breakfast out at?
I'm embarassed to admit this but -- McDonald's. I LOVE the Sausage McMuffin, pancakes, hash brown, McGriddles... pretty much everything on their breakfast menu. I wish they served breakfast all day.

5. Describe your perfect breakfast in detail.
See above. :P

Picked up the Closer DVD. I think I'm in love with Natalie Portman and Clive Owen.

April 14, 2005

Work is seriously killing me right now. I started my new job a few weeks ago but since my company decided to take their time in hiring my replacement in my old position, I've been stuck with the responsibilities of both jobs. The workload is overwhelming and I just can't keep up. It would probably be impossible, unless I worked overtime and came in on weekends (yeah, right). I have hundreds of emails each day that I don't have time for and an inbox full of projects that I haven't started. I'm just not getting paid enough for this kind of grief. *tears hair out* I think we're finally about to hire someone, though, so hopefully this won't last too much longer.

Totally forgot about the new episodes of American Idol, Smallville, Alias and Jack and Bobby this week. Very unlike me (must be all the stress). But at least Tivo remembered. *pets Tivo* TV comments this weekend once my brain has recovered.

I also need to start watching Veronica Mars. I guess there was a monumental episode recently and EVERYONE seems to be talking about it. I feel so out of the loop. :P I don't have patience to download all the episodes so I'm hoping it comes out on DVD soon.

April 10, 2005

Rob and I just put a hold on a new apartment! YAY. :) We'll still be living in the same complex but in a different building. I'm so excited to be getting a fresh start though I'm not really looking forward to the packing... or the actual moving. EEK.

The Friday Five
1. What is the one book that you reread over and over again?
Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. My favorite book. I never tire of reading it.

2. What is your favorite genre?
I don't think I necessarily have a favorite but I am drawn to chick-lit as well as suspense/action books.

3. Do you usually buy your books or visit the library?
I usually buy books. I love having a collection that I can reread over and over again.

4. Who is your favorite author?
I don't know that I have one, really.

5. What book have you read that you absolutely hated?
Beloved by Toni Morrison. I had to read it in college and it took me forever. I had to force myself to finish it. I suppose I just didn't "get" it.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Book Challenge update...

March
12. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, 336p
I enjoyed this book but there were a couple of things that bothered me while reading... first, time seemed to move excruciatingly slow. There were pages and pages describing multiple events and it seemed as if weeks had gone by. Then all of a sudden the author would reference time and it turns out only a day had passed. Very minor but it was really jarring for me. My second issue was the way Lily and Zack were allowed to interact. I mean, it was the 60s and if I remember my history lessons correctly, black boys couldn't even so much as *look* at a white girl for fear of inciting anger from the community. So I thought it was a bit unrealistic to have Lily and Zack working as a team and making trips downtown to do errands. Wouldn't that have caused a stir? Regardless, I'd still recommend this book -- I ended it feeling very hopeful and optimistic for Lily and her journey.

Wow, March was a pretty bad month for me as I only read 1 book! Eeek.

Just some random news that amused me...

It looks like Cookie Monster, my favorite Sesame Street character EVER, is going... healthy??? It seems like they're going to make him eat fruits and vegetables and cut back on the cookies. !!! Hehehe.

OMG. I consider myself a Britney fan but I don't know if I would be able to stomach watching this. I can't stand that awful, awful Kevin Federline. What were they thinking by signing on for a reality show? They're definitely NOT Nick and Jessica.

100 Days til Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!

Spoilery entry for AI, Lost...

I think America hates me. There is just no other reason to explain tonight's results episode of American Idol. ARGH. WHO is STILL voting for Anthony?!? I still can't believe he was safe. It's like Jasmine from last season all over again.

Lost was so upsetting. I like Boone! *sob* They couldn't have killed off Hurley? Or maybe Charlie? I can't even think about it right now because it means that I no longer get to see Ian Somerhalder on TV every week. *lights a candle for Boone* Oh, and this episode reminded me that I should probably find out what blood type I am. You know, just in case.

Anyway, quick meme stolen from Nicola --

Name 4 books on your bookshelf:
1. The Secret Life of Bees - Sue Monk Kidd (which I finally finished and will comment on soon)

Wow, tonight's showtunes episode of American Idol was TERRIBLE. I don't think I liked a single performance. My predictions for the bottom three are Scott, Anthony, and Nikko (this pains me because I love him but I don't think he's really that popular with the public) with Anthony saying farewell. *crosses fingers*

Hopping on the bandwagon...

1. Post a list of 10 TV shows you watch/ed (current or cancelled).
2. Have your friends list guess your favorite pairing from each show.
3. When guessed, bold the line & write a sentence about why you like that pairing.
4. Post in your own livejournal blog.

This should be pretty easy, right? Note that I only picked 1 pairing per show...

1. Dawson's Creek - Pacey/Joey (guessed by Jessica, Robyn, and Nicola)
My ALL-TIME favorite ship. It's the sweetness and the sarcasm. I just love how their rough edges break down when they're together.

2. Everwood - Ephram/Amy (guessed by Jessica and Nicola)
Colin/Amy were my original ship on this show but Ephram/Amy were the ones who stayed with me.

3. American Dreams - Sam/Meg

4. 24 - Tony/Michelle (guessed by Jessica, Robyn, and Nicola)
He committed treason for her! That's love, people!

5. One Tree Hill - Nathan/Haley (guessed by Jessica
I'm not completely loving them right now (stupid Haley!) but I do love their story. How he only went after her to make Lucas angry and ended up falling in love... Aww.

6. The O.C. - Seth/Summer (guessed by Robyn and Nicola)
I don't know if it's the prettiness or the playful banter, but they always make me smile.

7. Alias - Syd/Vaughn (guessed by Jessica and Robyn)
I know they've kinda fizzled out in the last season or so but... they're so pretty! And they have such an easy chemistry with each other.

8. Smallville - Lex/Lana (guessed by Robyn)
They have so much potential! And they have far more in common than initially meets the eye. (Or maybe I've just read too many of Christie's fics. Hee).

9. Felicity - Felicity/Noel

10. Friends - Chandler/Monica (guessed by Robyn)
Chandler and his dry wit. Monica and her neuroses. Fantastic.

Guess away! Yay, thanks for guessing! :)

April 2, 2005

I hate losing an hour of sleep because of daylight's savings time. It's evil.

Some memes...
Friday Five --
1. What's the one movie you've seen more times than any other?
Anne of Green Gables or the sequel Anne of Avonlea

2. If you could turn one book, comic book or other print story into a feature-length movie, what story would you pick and why?
Mmm, maybe the Shopaholic series?

3. Who would you cast?
I'd love to see Kate Beckinsale or Reese Witherspoon tackle Becky. And maybe Andrew Lincoln or Jude Law for Luke.

4. What one movie would you like to see "updated for the year 2005"? (ie, a remake)
I have no idea... umm, nothing for now, I guess.

5. What one movie are you most looking forward to this year?
Can I pick 3 movies? :P Batman Begins (Katie Holmes and Christian Bale!), The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise!).

The Fannish Friday Five --
Name your five favorite little-known actor or actresses.

I'm loosely interpreting this question to be actors and actresses who aren't household names... yet.
1. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers
2. Gary Dourdan
3. Parminder Nagra
4. Dule Hill
5. Reiko Aylesworth
