Some of the random, random stuff I'm thinking about...

Hurricane Katrina. :( I can't watch the news anymore because all the images just make me want to cry. Stupid nature. If anyone wants to help, The Red Cross is taking donations. Every little bit helps.

The CD/DVD drive on my laptop no longer wants to play CDs. WTF. And of course it chooses now when I want to rip my new Death Cab for Cutie CD. Stupid thing. It only reads DVDs now apparently. That's fantastic. My laptop is only a couple of years old too. GRRR. ARGH.

Emily VanCamp and Chris Pratt are DATING?!? Since when? Holy cow. I won't be able to watch them interact on Everwood the same way anymore. It'll be too weird thinking of them as siblings when I know the actors are DATING. They're messing with my head.

So You Thing You Can Dance is starting to disappoint. The routines have horrible choreography (and some cringe-worthy music) and the dancers don't seem all that into it anymore. I don't really think any of the finalists are very good (*cough*Snow*cough*), to be honest. Is that mean? I do enjoy Ryan and Melody, though -- Ryan because he can do cool breakdance moves (HOW can he breakdance on his head and not break his neck?!) and Melody because I love her lyrical dance style (plus she's filipino!).

Ahh, it's finally summer in the Bay Area. I've never understood why our summer is September/October. Whatever, I can still wear tank tops and flips for another few weeks!

I may be going on vacation to Australia (!!!) with my dad after Christmas. SQUEE. I really really really hope we manage to pull this trip together. I've always wanted to go to Australia. *sigh*

It's almost midnight and I'm stuffing my face with Rocky Road ice cream. YUM. Is it any wonder why I don't lose any weight? Heh.

That's it for now... only 1.5 days left of work then 3 DAY WEEKEND. YES.

August 30, 2005

Just wanted to send my thoughts out to Amy and Allison and everyone else affected by Hurricane Katrina. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. *hugs*

So I remembered to watch the series premiere of Prison Break Monday night and I liked it. BUT. The story was a little too far-fetched for me (and I'm someone who has no problems believing Jack Bauer has had 4 incredibly crappy days or Sydney Bristow is a superspy) -- I mean, WHO in their right mind would *intentionally* get arrested so he can break himself and his brother out of prison?!? Makes no sense to me at all. But once I got past that, and the cheesy dialogue ("Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" -- come ON!), I actually found myself wanting to find out what happens next. Especially at the very end with the... you know. EEK. I also really liked the set up for the government conspiracy plot against Lincoln... that'll keep me watching for the next few episodes to see where the writers go with the story.

Plus, there's always the eye candy. Wentworth Miller is cuuuute. Whenever Mariah Carey's video for We Belong Together is on, I always watch it so I can catch a glimpse of him, lol.

Anyway, FOX is rerunning the premiere on Thursday, I believe... so there's another chance to catch it if you missed it!

So it's official. The Fall TV season has started. YAY. Speaking of which, where in the world is my Entertainment Weekly Fall preview issue? That's the issue I look forward to the most every year. Hurry it up! :P

August 28, 2005

Did some driving this weekend. I think I'm getting better. :D I'm more comfortable with speed and my turns are definitely improving. I still can't park to save my life and unprotected left turns make me incredibly nervous but... I'm getting the hang of it. I actually enjoy it now, which is, seriously, a bit of a shock to me. I think I have to amend my goal of taking the driving test before my birthday... October is coming up TOO soon. Maybe by the end of the year? *shrugs* I'm hesitant to set another date... in due time, I guess. :)

Laguna Beach on MTV is my newest guilty pleasure. I know, I know... it's a horrible show. BUT. They're beautiful, spoiled, rich teenagers. Spending all their parents' money. Clique wars. Love triangles. Oh man, how could I not love it?! I even asked Rob to rent the season 1 DVDs and rip them for me so I could watch the episodes I missed. I'm a dork. But I can't miss one second of... Kristin flirting with her friends' significant others and showing no shame whatsoever, LC fawning all over Stephen when he pays no attention to her, Jessica allowing Jason treat her like crap... Ahhh. So much drama. I LOVE IT.

So. The MTV VMA's. A few random comments --

Why does P. Diddy (can't call him Diddy yet -- I just got used to calling him P. Diddy) always have a freaking toothpick in his mouth? I don't get it.

I love Kelly Clarkson. She was so shocked when she won Best Female Video. "I don't have a posse so I brought up my friend Ashley." AWW.

OMG. MC HAMMER!!! NO. WAY. I'm impressed -- the man can still dance. That was AWESOME.

Hilary Duff is WAY too skinny.

Not sure if I like Kanye West but I sure do like his music. Gold Digger is a catchy song.

Anyway.

I'm almost done updating this site. I cleaned out the cliques and adoptions pages since I haven't even looked at those things in AGES. I deleted all my affiliates (sorry, guys) because half of the links were dead. And now I'm contemplating what to do about my joined fanlistings section. It's out of control. A good majority of the listings have moved and I'm too lazy to find the new urls. I'm thinking I should just purge the whole thing and start over. Or maybe I should just get rid of it completely. I'm so indecisive. *sigh*

Damn. It's time for bed. Do I really have to go to work tomorrow?

Finally something new around here. :) I needed something less fangirly for a change, lol. Thanks to Google for the flower image.

I'm going to be cleaning up this site this weekend (updating pages, deleting others, mulling over what to do with the mess of joined fanlistings, etc.) so please excuse the mess...

August 25, 2005

I'm currently trying to update my resume. What a complete PAIN. UGH. It's driving me crazy. I wasn't actively looking for a job (I'm actually very content working on the sales side of advertising) but one of my contacts at an agency I work with approached me about possibly taking a job there as an Asst. Media Planner, which would be the planning and buying side of the industry. I was really flattered when I was asked and then I found myself seriously considering the offer... I've always toyed with the idea about moving over to the agency side but never gave it serious thought until now. The only problem is that I would have to take a severe pay cut (which I'm SO not happy about and I'm not even sure I can afford to -- living in the Bay Area is expensive) but the opportunity may be worth it in the long run. I don't really know what to do. I've only told a few people I trust at work (don't want to raise any red flags if I don't have to) and the advice I've been given has been mixed. Argh. I've decided to at least take an interview so we'll see what happens...

Ok. Back to the regularly-scheduled fangirliness.

I just saw the promo for season 3 of The O.C.. AWWW. I'm such a sucker for pretty people playing on the beach. I'm so ready for the new TV season to start. I'm tired of reruns and reality shows!

I love memes (mostly because I can blog without *really* blogging, hee)...

Five by Five TV Fandom Meme

A) List Five of your TV Fandom Favorites
[Doesn't have to be your top 5, just five of your favorites.]
1. Which makes you cry the most?
2. Which makes you laugh the most?
3. Which makes you gasp outloud/talk to your TV the most?
4. Which do you do the most art for?
5. Which will/do you miss the most?

B) For each of your favorites, list the following:
1. Favorite Episode
2. Favorite Character
3. Favorite Premiere
4. Favorite Finale
5. Why is it one of your favorites?

A) List Five of your TV Fandom Favorites
Dawson's Creek, Everwood, The OC, Veronica Mars, American Dreams
1. Which makes you cry the most? Everwood. Hands down. I don't think I've ever cried so much for a TV show as I did for the season 2 premiere. Guh.
2. Which makes you laugh the most? The OC. Sometimes it's the witty dialogue and sometimes it's the completely unbelievable scenarios (most of the time involving Marissa).
3. Which makes you gasp outloud/talk to your TV the most? Veronica Mars
4. Which do you do the most art for? Dawson's Creek. When I was making art (I'm kinda lazy now, heh), I just felt the most inspired by DC.
5. Which will/do you miss the most? American Dreams. It was cancelled WAY before its time.

Dawson's Creek
1. Favorite Episode: Episode 615, Castaways. An entire episode devoted to Pacey and Joey. How could I not love it?
2. Favorite Character: Jen
3. Favorite Premiere: Tie between the Pilot (so many classic scenes) and the season 4 premiere, Coming Home (Pacey and Joey still in love after their whirlwind summer *sigh*).
4. Favorite Finale: Season 3, True Love. Joey running to the dock to tell Pacey she's in love with him and then running away for the summer together remains one of my favorite scenes from the show ever.
5. Why is it one of your favorites? It was the first show I really LOVED. I feel very connected to it... maybe because in my mind I link it to my college years? All I know is that I continue to watch the show on DVD and in reruns and love it as much (or maybe even more) as I did when it was still on the air.

Everwood
1. Favorite Episode: Episode 107, We Hold These Truths. Colin's first episode and I was immediately in love. Plus, the flashbacks of Amy, Colin and Bright are so adorable.
2. Favorite Character: Can't choose between Colin and Amy. They're the best.
3. Favorite Premiere: Season 2, The Last of Summer. I cried like there was no tomorrow.
4. Favorite Finale: Season 1, Home. Notice how I love everything that involves Colin?
5. Why is it one of your favorites? The show isn't afraid to address controversial topics (ie. abortion episode in s1, Ephram losing his virginity to an older girlfriend in s2). Not to mention that the characters are played by an amazingly talented cast. I always wish the show would receive more recognition than it does.

The OC
1. Favorite Episode: Pilot episode. Nothing can beat Ryan's introduction to the world of Orange County. Welcome to the OC, bitch!
2. Favorite Character: I'm torn. I love Ryan and Summer equally.
3. Favorite Premiere: Season 2, The Distance. I just love the cab scene in Portland when Ryan and Seth run back to each other. They are so in love.
4. Favorite Finale: Season 2, The Dearly Beloved. A tragic episode that injected some life into the show and created great momentum for season 3.
5. Why is it one of your favorites? Pretty people in beautiful southern CA creating drama for themselves. What more do you want?

Veronica Mars
1. Favorite Episode: Episode 110, An Echolls Family Christmas. Duncan/Weevil/Logan interaction. YAY.
2. Favorite Character: Veronica
3. Favorite Premiere: n/a. While I enjoyed the pilot, I don't particularly think it's a great or strong episode. It took about 4 or 5 episodes for the show to really grow on me.
4. Favorite Finale: Season 1, Leave it to Beaver. Ahhh, the culmination of the season's biggest mystery. Sooo satisfying.
5. Why is it one of your favorites? Love the mix of teenage drama and mystery.

American Dreams
1. Favorite Episode: Pilot. The teaser is probably one of my most favorites of any show. Ever. All the characters are introduced in a short time and all I want is to get to know them. I especially loved the way the teaser ended on Meg's smiling face as she danced along to American Bandstand. So great.
2. Favorite Character: Meg. Her hopes and dreams for "something more" is something I can definitely relate to.
3. Favorite Premiere: See above regarding the Pilot episode.
4. Favorite Finale: Season 1, City on Fire. Meg and Sam caught in the middle of race riots. *sniff*
5. Why is it one of your favorites? A great ensemble cast and superb storytelling. I miss it so.

I'm back... and on the new server. YAY. Still not done with some of the file transfers, though. What a pain.

I finally picked up the American Dreams season 1 DVDs. I love this show. And I'm still SO mad at NBC for cancelling it. The story wasn't over for the Pryors and the Walkers yet. *sniff* And to think the end of the show featured Meg running away with Chris. UGH. Ok, I have to stop thinking about it. Oh! I did spot Kristen Bell in episode 116, Act of Contrition. It's always cool when my fandoms collide.

Thought I would do some memes (I stole them from... somewhere)...

List five songs that you are currently digging.
1. Don't Lie, Black-Eyed Peas
2. My Style, Black-Eyed Peas - Squee, Justin Timberlake is on this track!
3. Lose Control, Missy Elliott
4. Cool, Gwen Stefani - I adore the video to this song too.
5. Gone Going, Black-Eyed Peas
I'm obviously on a huge BEP kick right now. Monkey Business is a great album.

Rob's 27th birthday is tomorrow (8/13) but we had his big bash last night at Cafe Mum's in Japantown. Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! It was so much fun!

Anyway, it's Friday and I'm tired so I'm going to do the OTP meme that's floating around...

Number #1 OTP that is truly THE ONE TRUE PAIRING (withstanding the test of time and fandom whoring): Pacey and Joey, Dawson's Creek. (Like there was any doubt?) It's the banter and the wit, the sweetness and the sarcasm...

Your OTP Today: Ephram and Amy, Everwood. Ephram really disappointed me this past season but they have such a real and engaging chemistry, I can't help but root for these two crazy kids.

Baby's First OTP: My first real OTP obsession was Pacey and Joey... where I actually saved pictures I could find, rewatched episodes over and over, searched for fanfic, etc. However, before I got into "fandom," my original OTP was Robin and Stone from General Hospital. Their love story still absolutely kills me.

That Rare Pairing That You Love: Colin and Amy, Everwood (a beautiful and tragic first love story). Dawson and Jen, Dawson's Creek and Lucas and Peyton, One Tree Hill (untapped potential).

OTP That You'd Go to Bat For in Wank Situation: I don't really care to get involved in fandom wank... but I suppose I'd argue for any of my couples.

Number #1 Anti-OTP, the Pairing You Hate with a Fiery Passion: Ephram and Madison, Everwood. I don't even like thinking about them... if anything has disappointed me about the show, it's the way this relationship reared its ugly head at the end of season 2 and the way it continued to cast a cloud over season 3.

Character You Pair Off With Almost Anyone: Veronica, Veronica Mars.

This is for rapid fire first OTP that comes to your head for each fandom, don't cheat!

*Dawson's Creek - Pacey/Joey
*BtVS - Buffy/Angel
*Felicity - Felicity/Noel
*Everwood - Ephram/Amy
*24 - Tony/Michelle
*Gilmore Girls - Rory/Dean
*One Tree Hill - Nathan/Haley
*Smallville - Lex/Lana
*The West Wing - Sam/Ainsley
*The OC - Seth/Summer
*Friends - Monica/Chandler
*Alias - Syd/Vaughn
*Lost - Kate/Jack
*Veronica Mars - Veronica/Duncan
*Roswell - Michael/Maria
*CSI - Nick/Warrick
*Harry Potter: Harry/Hermione

Today I received 991 pieces of email spam. GRRRR. I normally get about 150+ a day (most likely because my email address is available at most of my sites) but it's never bothered me much. But 991 emails?!? Spam should be illegal.

So I'm finally finishing up the Top 5 requests. Here's the last of the bunch...

Top 5 TV Quotes
1. A heart is a fragile thing. That's why we protect them so vigorously, give them away so rarely, and why it means so much when we do. Some hearts are more fragile than others. Purer, somehow. Like crystal in a world of glass, even the way they shatter is beautiful."
-- Irv's narration, Everwood: Episode 218 Last Looks

2. "Dawn, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will *always* love you. But this is the work that I have to do. Tell Giles... tell Giles I figured it out. And I'm okay. And give my love to my friends. You have to take care of them now. You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong. Dawn, the hardest thing in this world... is to live in it. Be brave. Live. For me."
-- Buffy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Episode 522, The Gift

3. "And now that this scared little girl no longer follows me wherever I go, I miss her. I do. Cause there are things I wanna tell her -- to relax, to lighten up, that it's all going to be ok. I want her to know that meeting people who like you, who understand you, who actually accept you for who you are, will become an increasingly rare occurrence. Jen, Jack, Audrey, Andie, Pacey, and Dawson. These people who contributed to who I am, they are with me wherever I go, and as history gets rewritten in small ways with each passing day, my love for them only grows. Because the truth is... it was the best of times. Mistakes were made, hearts were broken, harsh lessons learned, but all of that has receded into fond memory now. How does it happen? Why are we so quick to forget the bad and romanticize the good? Maybe it's because we need to believe that the time we spent together actually meant something, that we were there for each other in a time in our lives that defined us all, a time in our lives that we will never forget. I can't swear this is exactly how it happened. But this is how it felt."
-- Joey, Dawson's Creek: Episode 622, Joey and the Capeside Redemption

4. "We try to live responsible, logical lives. But we can't tell our hearts how to feel. Sometimes our hearts lead us to places we never thought we wanted to go. And sometimes our hearts can be the sweetest, gentlest things we have. Sometimes our hearts can make us feel miserable, angry, excited and confused. All at once. But at least my heart is open. And I'm writing again. I'm feeling. I'm breathing. "
-- Liz, Roswell: Episode 216, Heart of Mine

5. "When things are working right in the universe, a loss of innocence is usually followed, in time, by an increase in humanity. Time is funny like that. For everything it robs us of, it grants us something. Sometimes it's a new friend, sometimes it's a better understanding of ourselves. Sometimes, it's just a perfect day."
-- Irv's narration, Everwood: Episode 107, We Hold These Truths

And an honorable mention --
"The more time I spend with Zach, the less time I think about goddamn what's-his-face, built like a beanpole, curly hair, runs away like a little bitch on a sailboat, leaving nothing but a note for his girlfriend, who cried and cried over him until the Fourth of July when she realized she doesn't cry over bitches on boats."
-- Summer, The OC: Episode 201, The Distance

Now. Someone explain to me why Dukes of Hazzard was #1 at the box office this past weekend?! I don't understand.

Why did no one tell me before that magazine subscriptions are so cheap on eBay? Holy cow. It's like heaven.

In other news, I just finished watching In Good Company. And I really liked it. The movie is totally predictable (I mean, if you saw the trailer, it basically gives the story away) but Topher Grace, Scarlett Johansson and Dennis Quaid are all amazing. The ending left me a little dissatisfied but now that I've had a little time to think about it, I've changed my mind. I'm happy with the way it ended. Very true to real life. Anyway, highly recommended. :)

Doing another Top 5 request...

Top 5 Real Life Couples
I don't really 'ship real life couples (it's a little strange since they're actually real people and not characters) so here are the 5 couples that I think are/were really cute together...
1. Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody
2. Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson
3. Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe (they never dated -- but the pictures of them at the various premieres of HP3 were *so* cute)
4. Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake
5. Kirsten Dunst and Jake Gyllenhaal

One more to do...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Squee! New pictures from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire are here and here. I especially adore all the pics of Harry (my Dan love is resurfacing). Aww. And I finally got my first look at an official WB photo of Cho Chang. Katie Leung (I think that's the actress's name) is totally cute but she's just not what I envisioned Cho to look like. Maybe it's just me...

In other movie news, I've seen a few in recent weeks (all of which are probably old news to everyone else, lol)...

Batman Begins
The best movie I've seen all year. Actually, the best movie I've seen in a LONG time. It was amazing. The talented cast (especially Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman -- and yes, including Katie Holmes), the darker storyline, the gritty sets -- everything just fell into place for this movie. A definite improvement from the cheesefest that was Batman and Robin (please no one let Arnold Schwarzenegger appear in another Batman movie). Can't wait for the sequel!

Fantastic Four
Entertaining but not much else. The Fantastic Four aren't developed at all as characters which made it hard for me to care. I definitely had trouble with Johnny Storm (Chris Evans's character) -- he was such a hothead and I never understood why. There was also some cringe-worthy acting (*cough*JessicaAlba*cough*) but I'll overlook that because I adored Julian McMahon. Heh.

Wedding Crashers
Everyone needs to go see this movie! Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are freaking hilarious. Rachel McAdams is rocking (as usual) plus, you get to see Bradley Cooper (yum!) play a decidedly non-Will character. Good times.

I also saw a trailer for Dukes of Hazzard. WOW. Jessica Simpson absolutely cannot act. I was so embarrassed for her. EEK.

And last but not least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Emma! Hope you have a great day! :)
