October 30, 2005

I'm listening to Christmas music right now. LOL. I'm so ready for the holiday season... it's definitely my most favorite time of the year. I've even started my Christmas shopping. HEE!

I downloaded all 13 Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire clips from The Leaky Cauldron and NONE of them had sound for me. Grrr. I guess I'm not meant to spoil myself for the movie, hee. (And Sarah, you're totally right -- the movie comes out on Nov 18. I'm just too excited! I can't wait any longer, lol).

I think I have a new favorite celebrity couple -- Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. I had absolutely NO CLUE that they were dating until I saw the cute pictures of them grocery shopping. Aww. It's like Noah and Allie come to life!

An entry wouldn't be complete without some TV stuff (possible spoilers ahead)...

Am I totally out of the loop? Has Kitchen Confidential been cancelled? Prison Break is getting another 2 hour Monday event tomorrow so it has me wondering...

Everwood 4.05, Connect Four
This episode made me so happy. I am totally back on the Amy/Ephram train. Not that I ever really stopped loving them... it's just that after the end of last season, I haven't actually liked Ephram, which makes it pretty hard to 'ship them. But as soon as he revealed to Andy that he came back because he's still in love with Amy, I just melted. That said, I also like Reid/Amy. I was smiling so big during their first kiss. It was so sweet. I'm still not sold on Bright/Hannah but I am beginning to like them. Is that weird? Like, I still feel like they have nothing in common but I can appreciate their scenes now, particularly the one at the end of the episode when Hannah looked so happy to see Bright and he gazed down at her with such a sweet look (aww). Or maybe I'm starting to like them because I foresee a painful break-up? I do love angst, you know. Anyway, my favorite scene of the episode was when Bright was talking to Ephram about breaking up with Hannah. Those two have come so far since last season. I'm so proud. Plus, I just love the way Tom Amandes directed that scene.... with the camera looking up at B/E and the gorgeous mountain backdrop. Soooo pretty.

Grey's Anatomy
I thought I was all about Derek/Meredith but I've learned... it's ALL about Burke/Cristina. At the end of episode 2.04, when Burke got into bed with Cristina and held her, I think I might have swooned. That was one of the sweetest and most romantic scenes ever. I'm serious. I want those two crazy kids to work out.

One Tree Hill
Haley better not have kissed Chris at the Halloween party. How could he have known Nathan was going as Batman anyway? UGH. So I downloaded Peyton's podcasts from iTunes out of curiosity and they're okay. Nothing exciting, especially since Hilarie Burton has kind of a monotone voice. It's actually an interesting way of tying the show to real life. In the first one, she talks through her feelings about her current storyline with Ellie and in the second one, she talks about music as a part of her life. If you're not a Peyton fan, I'd skip it.

And for American Dreams fans, there was a good update on the extended finale on Ask Ausiello this week (Thanks to Robyn for the head's up!)...

Question: I can't wait to find out more about the American Dreams alterna-finale, like you promised in last week's AA. Please tell me that Chris disappears from Meg's life and she ultimately ends up with her true love Sam! - LJ

Ausiello: Well, the first half of your wish came true, LJ. Chris is definitely out of Meg's life. And I know this because - brace yourselves, Dreamers, - I've seen the elusive epilogue! Jonathan Prince sent a DVD copy to me via armored vehicle late last week and all I can say is it more than lived up to the hype. Now, before I present you with the highlights, let me assure you that, come hell or high water, you will see the ending, too. Worse case scenario: You'll have to wait for the Season 2 and 3 boxed DVD set, which will hopefully street sometime in '06. "We're in negotiations now," Prince says of the DVD. "And the epilogue would absolutely be included." But there's slight chance you won't have to wait until then. I can't get into specifics, but a top-secret plan is afoot that could bring the ending to you much sooner and cement my status as an American hero in the process. Hopefully, I'll have more to share in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are some interesting facts/tidbits/spoilers about the climax to whet your appetite. Stop reading now if you prefer to wait for the real deal.

* The flashback-heavy capper is 10 minutes long, edited down from 20 minutes of raw footage.

* The only Dreams principals appearing in new scenes are Brittany Snow, Gail O'Grady and Tom Verica.

* Most of the epilogue takes place on a bus, with Meg - now a junior at Berkeley - heading to New York to visit Sam at Columbia. "This would have been the first time she's seen Sam in three years," says Prince.

* Meg meets a friend on the bus, and it's during their conversation that we learn that Patty went to Radcliffe and Roxanne married Luke and had a son named Woody Allen.

* At the last minute, Meg decides to get off the bus in Philadelphia, where she returns home and reunites with her mom and dad for the first time in three years.

Next week, Jonathan reveals what would have happened had Dreams gone a fourth season. (Hint: It's splitsville for Helen and Jack!)

___

Yay for the break-up of Meg/Chris but she hasn't seen Sam in 3 years?!? I know it was definitely a long shot that they would ever try to have a relationship again but... a girl can dream. *sigh* And I can't believe Helen and Jack might have separated had the show not been cancelled. I just... I NEVER would have expected that to happen at all. They had problems but I always felt like they were the foundation, the center of the show. Guh, I can't wait for the DVDs.

I GOT MY NEW IPOD.

!!!!!

OMG, I'm in LOVE. It's so pretty. And shiny. And the screen is wider. And in COLOR. And it plays videos. And I finally have a click wheel (my previous iPod was old school and had the 4 buttons at the top).

It's pretty sad how happy I am because of a new toy. I tried to take pictures of it to show it off (hehe) but let's just say I'm a completely lousy photographer.

*hugs iPod*

Anyway, take a look at Rob's website. That's me! :P

OMG. Look!

They are SO. CUTE. Aww. On a totally shallow note, I LOVE Emma's necklaces and the way she's layered them. So stylish.

And Dan finally cut his hair! Thank goodness. I did not care for the shaggy look at all. He looks much better with shorter hair. Too bad he didn't cut his hair *before* filming Goblet of Fire. Oh well.

So... Is it November 16 yet?!? :D

Just finished watching Prison Break 1.08, The Old Head.

Not MARILYN!!! :( Bellick is officially on my shit list. I can't believe he killed the cat. EVIL.

Have to give LJ credit for taking the photo of Kellerman. I didn't think he was too bright until now.

Wentworth Miller is still HOT.

:D

October 23, 2005

Can you believe that I've actually been out *doing* stuff this past week? Thus, the lack of blogging. This also means I was totally behind on TV. Until today, which I spent doing my best impression of a couch potato. I have such weird TV viewing habits.

:P

So, the TV comments...

Gilmore Girls 6.06, Welcome to the Doll House
What happened to Logan?! He's like a shell of what he was last season. I never particularly cared for him but he was charismatic and outgoing and that was refreshing. Now he's just... lifeless. Kinda like the show. I hope next week's episode with Rory's 21st birthday spices things up a little.

Las Vegas
Is it just me or does Rachael Leigh Cook look WAY too young for Josh Duhamel?

Related 1.02, Hang In There, Baby
I'm glad this show is moving to Monday nights. It makes much more sense for it to follow 7th Heaven. Not to mention that now it has a fighting chance of surviving. My favorite sister so far is Ann (Kiele Sanchez) with Marjee (Lizzy Caplan) a close second. I don't relate to either of their storylines but I think both actresses are fantastic. They're funny without being over the top and subtle with the more serious/dramatic moments. The only sister I'm not overly enthused with is Rose (Laura Breckenridge). Her story has been done to death and I don't care for the innocent, wide-eyed schtick she has going on.

One Tree Hill 3.02, From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea
The focus on Brooke and Lucas is painful. Blech. I hate when shows rewrite history. And what happened to Peyton? :( I get she's hurting and frustrated with the whole biological mother situation. BUT. That doesn't mean she has to be such an ass to Haley. Haley was there for her when the Peyton/Brooke/Lucas triangle came to a head so it's disappointing now to see Peyton treat Haley with anything but understanding. The writers have already destroyed Haley for me... I hope they don't do it to Peyton too!

Alias 5.04, Mockingbird
Ok. I take it back. I think I'm warming up to the newbies. It's all Balthazar Getty's fault. Why does he have to be so cute?! But I get the feeling that the writers are priming Rachel and Tom to "replace" Syd and Vaughn. Is this some sort of hint that Jennifer Garner might be leaving the show? Especially with a baby on the way? I seriously hope they don't think the show can continue without her.

Yay, Prison Break and The OC are back this week! WOO HOO!

October 18, 2005

Happy Birthday Sarah! My October birthday buddy! :) Hope you're having a fabulous day.

October 15, 2005

Ahhh, this year's birthday has been so awesome. I haven't done anything extraordinarily special... I've just been really happy. And thanks to all of you for your wonderful birthday greetings! :)

On my birthday, I got to work and found my cubicle decorated with streamers, confetti, and NEMO balloons! Awww. And the presents! I got a few pairs of earrings from my managers (I'm an earrings freak), a Banana Republic gift card, a cute pink purse, and a pink hoodie (can you tell I love pink? :P). My office even threw me a little "party" that afternoon. :) I was blushing like crazy (I hate the attention) but OMG, the CAKES! I had a Strawberry Shortcake from Neldam's Bakery and a Chocolate Cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. SO. YUMMY. I swear I've gained about 10 pounds this week just from all the birthday treats.

I also got a new iPod from Rob because I've been complaining about mine. Hehe. My current one is a second generation iPod that has the touch pad menu instead of the click wheel. But OF COURSE, the day *after* my birthday, freaking Apple decides to release the video iPod, which OF COURSE, has 10gb more space AND video capabilities for the SAME price as the 20gb iPod I just received. BOO. So Rob's going to exchange it for me. WOOHOO. I AM SO EXCITED. I love new toys.

Anyway, my dad showed up last night. He came up here to visit some old friends from college so he calls me and is like "Surprise! I'm here for the weekend." Uhhhh. I don't like surprises. I mean, I love my dad but give me some notice! He came over this morning and we had a great dim sum lunch over at the Oakland Chinatown. I stuffed myself silly. I have seriously eaten my weight in food this past week.

So it's been a good weekend so far (with the exception of the CAL football loss). I hope everyone is having a great weekend as well! :)

Yet another birthday. *hides* I've finally hit the second part of my 20's. EEK.

:)

October 10, 2005

Holy back pain. I can barely concentrate on anything because it hurts for me to sit up or stand straight. I even spent most of the weekend in bed. I suppose I should go to the doctor. *wibble* :(

So, some good news -- Supernatural has been picked up for a full season! Ahhh, TV never fails to make me feel better. At least I'll have something good to watch on Tuesdays since Gilmore Girls is completely failing to deliver.

I feel like I'm always playing TV catch-up, lol (possible spoilers)...

Alias 5.02, ... 1 ...
It's just not the same anymore. Weiss (possibly?) leaving is the last straw. Plus, there's just too many newbies and they don't interest me when there's still lots of stories to tell about Sloane, Marshall, Nadia, etc (ie. the characters *already* on the show). At least the credits are new! (I love opening credits, I'm a dork). And they feature cast members other than Jennifer Garner! Awww. Not that I don't love JG but, you know.

One Tree Hill 3.01, Like You Like An Arsonist
OMG, Nathan and Haley have killed me dead. That's why I fell in love with them in s1. All their scenes were just so beautiful and angsty. OMGILOVETHEMSO. The scene where Haley goes over to Nathan's bedroom and they say "Always and Forever" to each other is THE BEST EVER. Guh. As for the rest -- I don't care for Brooke/Lucas and I care even less about Peyton's mom (and I normally love Peyton). On a shallow note, I don't like Sophia's bangs (AT. ALL) nor do I like BJL's blonde hair (I know it's her natural hair color but the brown hair from s1 was quintessential Haley). But I do love Hilarie's new hair... much prettier than the curls. Oh, and just for the record, my money's on Keith or Andy as the arsonist.

Related 1.01, Moving In, Moving Out, Moving On
Cute. Weak storylines, though. Especially for the youngest sister... college student who just dropped pre-med for the experimental art program. How original. I don't know if this show will last, though -- it has tough competition on Wednesdays (Lost, VM). But at least I know who Callum Blue is now! :)

Grey's Anatomy 2.03, Make Me Lose Control
Ok. So maybe I'm warming up to Alex and Izzie. Damn it. I broke too easily. But maybe a relationship between them will give Izzie more screen time. I feel like she's the character that gets shafted so we don't know anything about her. :( I want to see more Izzie! But OMG did Cristina/Burke tear my heart to pieces. I just about died when Burke was looking at the surgery board and realizing that Cristina was pregnant. And then when he got choked up as he was talking to his patient about a "broken heart." *sniff* Gawd, Isaiah Washington is so good. This storyline definitely trumps the Meredith/Derek/Addison drama. So does anyone else think that there was something going on between Ellis Grey and the Chief back in the day? Hmmm.

Squee, my Veronica Mars DVDs have shipped! YAY!

October 6, 2005

I really really want to go to Disneyland. When I was still in elementary school, I went to Disneyland every year for my birthday with my parents. I guess I'm just feeling nostalgic. Plus, I've heard Space Mountain is open again! I LOVE Space Mountain. It's my all-time favorite ride ever. Hmmm. Maybe for Christmas...

I've discovered lots of great artists and songs from all of you so I thought I would return the favor and upload some of my current "songs of the moment." :)

Please right click and save target as...

username: cookie

Black Eyes Peas - Don't Lie
Black Eyes Peas - Gone Going
Black Eyes Peas - My Style (with Justin Timberlake!)
Death Cab For Cutie - What Sara Said
Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek
Jack Johnson - Better Together (if I ever get married, I want this song to be a part of my wedding somehow)
Jack Johnson - Banana Pancakes (Yum, reminds me of Hawaii)
James Blunt - Tears and Rain (Many thanks to Barry for reccing him in the first place!)
Kanye West - Gold Digger
Kanye West - Touch the Sky

I'll probably take these down in a week or so. Songs deleted!

And some VERY brief TV talk while I'm here (beware spoilers)...

Veronica Mars, 2.02, Driver Ed
Wasn't feeling this episode at all. It was all Jackie's fault. She SUCKS. But yay Meg!

Gilmore Girls, 2.04, Always a Godmother, Never a God
How rude was Lorelai during the baptism?! UGH. If I were Sookie, I would have thrown her out. That entire scene was obnoxious. It made me so mad!

Prison Break, 1.07, Part 2
EEK. T-Bags is so awful. I hope he's offed and doesn't get a chance to escape. The actor who plays him is amazing, though. I seriously feel icky and squirmish watching him onscreen. *shudders* Anyway, loved the Michael/Sara interaction (ie. sexual tension :P) and the Michael/Lincoln hug at the end (you can just tell all is right with the world when they see each other). Too bad we have to wait 3 weeks for the next episode. Stupid baseball.

October 3, 2005

It doesn't look like I'll be finishing the 50 Book Challenge. I barely hit the halfway point! :( I thought this would be easier than it is -- if only I had enough money to buy books every week. I really should get myself to a library but I have a problem when it comes to returning books. Heh.

Brief thoughts and possible spoilers? I'll be vague.

July
19. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling, 652p
My initial review is over here. I'm sure I'm going to reread this book. Probably when Potter mania hits in November. :D

20. I Do But I Don't by Cara Lockwood, 335 p
Chick lit. Was one of my impulse bargain book purchases. A wedding planner, an obnoxious bride, and mistaken identities...

August
21. Every Boy's Got One by Meg Cabot, 328 p
I normally love Meg Cabot's books but this one was a little disappointing. I loved the back and forth banter between the heroine and her object of affection... it's just that the whole scenario of the two of them being thrown together was waaaayyy too fast. The entire book took place within the span of a week!

22. Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum, 535 p
Whoa, totally different from the movie! That was my first impression. :) But seriously, this book took me forever to get through (a few months -- how embarrassing!). Part of the problem was the small font (my eyes were killing me when reading). But really, I'm blaming the story. It was intense. Like the kind of intense that you just have to put the book down because you can't take it anymore. Phew. Anyway, I did enjoy the book (once I finally finished it) and I've already picked up The Bourne Supremacy. I'm sure that'll take me another few months.

September
23. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling, 870 p
Re-read.

24. Shopaholic and Sister by Sophie Kinsella, 352 p
The novelty of the Shopaholic series is gone. I loved Rebecca in the first 2 books but after her wedding in the third book and now her adventures of meeting her sister in this fourth book, I'm tired. She drives me crazy with her shopping and rationalizations and just plain selfishness. I hope this series is over cause I know I'll be tempted to read the next one. Still love Luke, though. *swoon* Is it weird to love a fictional character? :)

25. The Dirty Girls Social Club by Alisa-Valdes Rodriguez, 308 p
More chick lit (I've resorted to chick lit because it is *much* faster for me to get through). This time about a group of friends in their late twenties and their respective lives, loves, and careers. This was a little more substantial that the "typical" chick lit I read. It was even a little depressing (or maybe it's just realistic), especially with regards to relationships.

26. Goddess For Hire by Sonia Singh, 305 p
This book was recommended to me by a co-worker. It's about a 30 year old woman (with no direction in life) who suddenly finds out that she's a Hindu goddess destined to fight evil. Very Buffy the Vampire Slayer-ish. Cute.

October
27. The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot, 374 p
Found this for $4.98 on the bargain table at Barnes & Noble. Score! This was the last of the 'Boy' books that I had to read. Enjoyed it (as usual) but again, the resolution came way too quickly for me. Or maybe it's that the pacing of the book seemed too fast. I guess that can attributed to the format (it's written through a series of emails exchanged between the characters) -- everything seems like no time has passed since there's no actual descriptions of anything. I believe the book actually spans six months but while reading, I could have sworn it was only a few weeks.

I've been seeing lots of commercials for that movie In Her Shoes with Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette... makes me want to read the book (the movie looks... okay). Maybe that'll be my next read? I also want to try Meg Cabot's Mediator series (recced by Sarah). Hmmm.

October 2, 2005

Ahhh, Everwood is back! SQUEE. But I'm still pissed that it's on Thursdays. Stupid WB. They need to hurry up and cancel Just Legal so EW can move back to Mondays.

So, the episode (spoilers below)...

1. I think they killed Andy/Nina. Which makes me sad. I supported Jake/Nina last season because I thought he was good for her for the time being (ie. while Andy was wasting his time with Amanda). I imagined Nina being the one to help Andy through the summer with Ephram gone... not going to Hawaii with Jake! *sniff* But as much as I love Andy/Nina, I don't want the writers to perform character assassination on Jake either. I like him! And I don't want to dislike him. :( Especially after he came up with the perfect name for Nina's restaurant. (But I was *shocked* that Nina picked that time to realize she was really in love with him -- I think she just *wants* to love him because he's so obviously in love -- or obsessed -- with her). So, yeah. I'm conflicted.

2. Love that Bright keeps a framed picture of Colin. *sniff* Totally made the episode for me.

3. So this Reid character. So far I like him (doesn't hurt that he's cute) and I can totally see Amy crushing on him. But I don't think he's gay. It felt like too much of a big reveal for the premiere.

4. Emily VanCamp is freaking gorgeous. *girlcrush* She's just so radiant. And her new haircut looks really great on her. I'll miss her loooong hair, though -- it'll always be her signature look to me.

5. . Finally, Hannah and Bright. I don't know, guys. I *thought* I liked them -- I mean, who can forget their ketchup scene last season? But now that they're actually together, I'm not feeling it. They make me cringe (it doesn't help that Sarah Drew looks *years* younger than Chris Pratt). They just don't seem right for each other. I think Bright really believes he likes Hannah but I get the feeling that Hannah still looks at Bright as a fantasy and not as anything serious or real. I'll have to see how it goes.

Anyway, is it just me or is The OC really boring right now?

Posted by Kel at 10:37 PM | Comments (2)

I love October... because October means my birthday! Woot!

:D

I'm spending the weekend by myself (aaahhhh, alone time is so great) so I managed to do some TV catch-up. Possible spoilers ahead...

Gilmore Girls 1.02, Fight Face and 1.03, The UnGraduate
*yawn* There's stuff going on but I am so bored. I'm waiting for something exciting to happen. And that does not include Rory getting a new hairdo (which I really, really like, actually) or doing anything involving the DAR. At least there was Lane! Finally. Very excited to see her even though I hate her storyline.

Alias 5.01, Prophet Five
%$#@! It better be a big fake-out or I will cry. I know Syd/Vaughn peaked in season 2 and never really got back on track but I can't help it... I still adore them. And I'm so disappointed in this storyline. Why do they have to kill off all the people Syd loves? Danny, Francie, now Vaughn. :( I was so sad when Vaughn was getting shot and Syd was trying to run over to him. Guh. Don't even get me started on the whole double agent thing. Everything I loved about Vaughn is... GONE. I wish I could say that I'll wash my hands of the show but I know I won't. What is wrong with me?!?

Smallville 5.01, Arrival
Oooohhh, new credits! I like. But why is Erica Durance (yay, love Lois) before Allison Mack? They did that last season with Jensen Ackles coming before AM... why do they that? She's a series regular and has been since the beginning, GEESH. I have to admit that I didn't pay close attention to what was going on last season so I'm a little confused about... well, everything. Like Lex. Was it just me or was his turn to evil a little abrupt? And what the heck is wrong with Lionel? I've been planning on getting the s4 DVDs -- I suppose I should do that sooner than later. Anyway, the Brainiac's (squee, James Marsters!) introduction at the end was very cool. I'm excited to see him on this show. He should be a great addition.

Reunion, 1988
This show pains me. I wanted so badly for it to be good (partly because the concept intrigued me and partly because of Will Estes) but... it's not. After the premiere, it's been on a steady decline. And since it's on a short hiatus for baseball, I don't know that I'll still care when it returns. I may just resort to spoilers so I can find out who died and who's responsible. It'll be less painful than watching the show, that's for sure.

I wish the WB would stop showing promos for Related. I DON'T need another show to watch. But knowing me, I'll probably tune in for the premiere. Let's hope it's completely awful so I can quickly forget about it. :P

Still have The OC and Everwood to catch up on... but I should probably go to sleep since it's 3 AM! HEE.
