November 29, 2005 I *must* find this Harry Potter jacket. Look at it -- it's so cute! Why is it sold out online?! Tracking down this jacket will be my mission this weekend. It will be mine. :D Posted by Kel at 08:24 PM | Comments (1) November 28, 2005 If I wasn't such a huge 24 fan (OMG KIEFER), I would be SO UPSET with the Prison Break fall finale. Well, okay, maybe I am a little annoyed. I'm not good with cliffhangers. :/ Especially since... I thought they were supposed to escape in this episode!!! They didn't escape... they got locked in! Guh. Posted by Kel at 10:51 PM | Comments (1) November 25, 2005 I saw Rent today and absolutely loved it. It's obviously not in the same league as the musical (which is my most favorite stage show ever) but it comes really close. I was happily surprised by Rosario Dawson's performance. Her voice sounded great... I have to admit that I had my doubts about her but she proved me wrong. I've never cared for Maureen but Idina Menzel is seriously amazing (she looked so cute in the catsuit on New Year's Eve). I could listen to her sing all day. Tracie Thoms also blew me away... just WOW. Her voice is so powerful. I loved her version of Joanne. And who could forget Jesse Martin? I have a soft spot for him. But was it just me or did he play Collins as a bit of a drunk? I don't remember the character being like that in the stage show... but then it's been about 5 years since I've seen it so maybe I forgot? Whatever, Collins and Angel are still the best, and most meaningful, couple. *sob* My favorite number was La Vie Boheme. Such a great group song. They're all smiling, having fun, dancing on tables... such an awesome scene. My other favorite songs include Another Day, Without You, Finale B... and they definitely didn't disappoint. All the songs were spectacular. I think the movie soundtrack has a much MUCH edgier/harsher sound to it than the Original Broadway Cast soundtrack... it sounds fantastic. I wasn't planning on purchasing the movie soundtrack since I have the OBC but now I'm so tempted. The one thing I was upset about was Benny's diminished role. Again, maybe my memory is failing me but I remember seeing him more often in the stage show. Regardless, it was a GREAT movie (I'm so proud of Christopher Columbus). I highly recommend it. GO SEE IT! I also bought my Christmas tree today. Whee! It's so tall and fluffy and smells SO GOOD. Ahhh, the holidays rock. Posted by Kel at 10:55 PM | Comments (2) November 24, 2005 Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! :) I think I'm going to explode. I have eaten SO MUCH food today. Rob and I had his brother and wife over today and we split the cooking responsibilities. I was in charge of the ham (which I bought from Honey Baked -- yum!), candied yams, stuffing, spinach/artichoke dip and pumpkin pie. Susie, Rob's sister-in-law, made the turkey, biscuits, garlic mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. HOLY COW. It didn't really sound like THAT much food when we were planning the menu but seriously, we each had about 2 rounds of food and we barely put a dent in any of the dishes. I'm going to be eating leftover Thanksgiving dinner ALL WEEKEND. Tomorrow Rob and I plan on checking out a few Black Friday sales... possibly Target and Best Buy. Yeah, it's going to be a zoo but they have toys and DVDs on sale! We can't resist. Anyway, before I head off to bed, I want to wish Cat a very Happy Birthday! Hope it was a good one. Posted by Kel at 11:09 PM | Comments (0) November 22, 2005 First off... HAPPY BIRTHDAY Christie! Hope you have a fantastic day! :) Second... YaY CAL for winning the Big Game this past weekend. It was the first time I'd ever been to a Big Game and it was lots of fun. My ears are still ringing, though, from sitting in the student section with all the screaming fans. Too bad I also got sick and had to stay home from work all day yesterday. I've been pretty miserable for the past few days but at least I caught up on TV. :) There's always a bright side. And now... random HP GoF thoughts. GoF is my favorite book of the series so far and I think it just might be my favorite of the movies as well. However, I still hold PoA to be the better movie... I found PoA to be a more interesting interpretation of the book and really, it was just visually stunning. Is it weird that I favor one movie but think the other is better overall? Cause it totally makes sense in my head. I didn't mind the changes they made in GoF... ie. Barty Crouch, Jr. appearing in the opening scene with Voldemort and Wormtail and Ron finding out about the dragons, etc. The changes made sense to streamline the story. I was even glad to see the house elves storyline go and normally I find it amusing when reading the book. Anyway, my other thoughts in list form... Things I Loved 2. Draco and Lucius. They did such a great job casting these two. They're gorgeous. I can't wait to see who they're going to cast as Narcissa. 3. Ralph Fiennes was fantastic. Creepy, dark and downright frightening. Really, the entire graveyard scene was pretty much perfect. 4. All the new characters were spot on for me. Cho, Viktor, Cedric, Rita Skeeter, Moody. I really enjoyed them all. I especially adored Cedric. It's too bad we'll never see him again. *sob* And while I thought Cho was super cute, she definitely does not look at all how I imagined. I love her accent, though! 5. Yes, I'm a Harry/Hermione shipper so OF COURSE, I totally loved their scenes... the nervous hug before the first task, the kiss on the forehead after the second task, Harry's look as Hermione walked down the stairs at the Yule Ball... I know what's to come in the next few books so I'll take my shipping happiness where I can get it. ;) 6. The trio in general did a great job. ILOVETHEMSOMUCH. They get better and better with each film. Especially Dan. He was a little wooden in PS but he's really improved. And surprisingly, I didn't mind his long hair at all. Things I Didn't Care For 2. Ginny. I like the character well enough but I'm sorry, Bonnie Wright does not impress me AT ALL. She doesn't really have any screen presence and more importantly, she doesn't seem to have any kind of chemistry with Harry. Or Ron. Or even the twins, for that matter. I wonder if the producers/director are going to consider recasting the role for the fifth/sixth movie? 3. Harry fighting the dragon went on for WAY too long. It was cool for the first minute but after that, I kept thinking the time would have been better spent on something else. Not to mention the fact that he would have totally lost the task cause he was taking too freaking long! 4. The ending was a little *too* happy and optimistic. I recently reread GoF and I finished it with a sense of sadness because the magic world is never going to be the same. Sure, the trio alluded to change in their ending dialogue but the impact of Voldemort's return didn't really resonate in their words. I'm going to see the movie again with some co-workers next Saturday so we'll see if I have anything more to say... Whee! Can't wait. :) Posted by Kel at 11:43 PM | Comments (1) November 18, 2005 LOVED HP4. But then I'm not that easy to please. :D Proper review later after I've gotten some sleep. I have to wake up for work in 3 hours! Posted by Kel at 03:01 AM | Comments (2) November 16, 2005 I am soooo behind on TV. I'm anxiously awaiting the Thanksgiving holiday next week so I can finally catch up. So a TV meme... From Crystal... My "Everybody Loves It And I Do Too" Show (s): Prison Break and Veronica Mars My "I'll Catch It on DVD" Shows: The West Wing. I only watched the show in real time during the first season. I've always caught up via the DVDs. I guess it's just one of those shows that works better for me all at once. My "I LOVE IT AND YOU SHOULD TOO" Show: Grey's Anatomy. This show rocks. My "I Love, But Keep Missing, Dammit" Show: Related. This is one of 3 shows I watch on Monday nights so I always end up missing it. I'm planning on downloading what I've missed and catching up when shows start going on hiatus for the holidays. My Guilty Pleasure Show(s): The OC (stories aren't as engaging and the characters aren't really developing but gawd, I have such a crush on the prettiness! And the fashion!) and Las Vegas (Josh Duhamel. Enough said). My "Comfort Food" Show: Everwood. Even when this show is tearing my heart into little pieces (ie. anything involving Colin in season 1, Ephram/Amy), it also makes me incredibly happy. I get a good feeling when I watch it. Silly, I KNOW! But yes, I get positively giddy when I sit down to watch the episodes. :D My "I'll Never Abandon You, EVER" Show: Dawson's Creek. Yes, still. HEE! Posted by Kel at 11:14 PM | Comments (1) November 15, 2005 Finally got my Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire tickets. Midnight showing, baby! Heh, I'm a dork. :D Posted by Kel at 11:04 PM | Comments (2) November 14, 2005 It's that time of year for HOLIDAY cards! :) I love writing and sending them out so email me with your address if you'd like to receive one. :D Posted by Kel at 07:13 PM | Comments (0) November 9, 2005 I went to a Clay Aiken Christmas concert last night. It was SO CHEESY. And normally I *like* cheese! I mean, Clay's voice was great but it was more of a musical than it was a concert (which I totally didn't expect because I was given the tickets that day and had no idea that it was even holiday-themed). There was a cutesy story about a boy befriending a lonely old lady in his neighborhood, there was dancing (sadly, the dancers were really horrible)... it had the makings of a great show but it was just waaaayyy overdone. PLUS, Clay's versions of most of the Christmas songs were sloooooow. I found myself yawning quite a few times. :/ There was a great joke about the little boy entering a talent show and winning second place. I totally didn't understand why everyone was laughing so hard and then I realized the connection to Clay. HAH. I'm a little slow on the uptake. I really wanted to enjoy the show (it's Christmas! And you know me, I LOVE the holidays!). It's too bad. :( Posted by Kel at 12:20 PM | Comments (1) November 7, 2005 I caught HBO's First Look on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire tonight. SQUEE. It was only about 10 minutes long but there were quite a few new and/or extended scenes... Mad-Eye Moody teaching a Dark Arts class, Dumbledore looking into the pensieve, the chaos at the Quidditch World Cup, Harry in the tub with Myrtle and the Golden Egg, Harry asking Cho to the Yule Ball... OMG, there was more and IT'S JUST SO EXCITING. You can download the clip from HPANA. Awww. I should go buy my movie tickets this week. I love watching HP on opening day. :D Posted by Kel at 11:11 PM | Comments (1) November 6, 2005 Totally random but I just saw part of tonight's Punk'd and Brittany Snow (American Dreams) was involved in Sophia Bush's (One Tree Hill) punk... does anyone know how they know each other? I 'm just curious since I love them both. DORK, I know. I'm tired from the Vegas weekend (waaaaayyy too much food consumption) so... a Fannish 5 meme in lieu of a real blog. Name five (TV) characters you would like to punch in the face. In no particular order... BWAHAHA. That was fun. :D Posted by Kel at 11:19 PM | Comments (2) November 3, 2005 ![]() AWWW. I know Halloween is over but I just HAD to show you all this picture of my teddy bear dressed up as Spider-Man. His name is Bub and he is quite possibly the most spoiled stuffed toy EVER. Seriously. He has an entire box of little bear clothes. :P Anyway, I'm off to Las Vegas -- hope everyone has a great weekend! Posted by Kel at 11:24 PM | Comments (1) |
