AWESOME. So You Think You Can Dance? has premiered. Oh man, I love this show.

I'm finally getting around to blogging about this season's finales (most of these finales aired weeks ago but just in case, SPOILERS ARE AHEAD)...

Grey's Anatomy
AMAZING finale. Too bad it was ruined by my ANGER at Izzie. Argh. She frustrated me so much. I realize her actions were motivated by love but OMG, she had her crazy face on. I never thought that Denny would survive (it just didn't make sense in terms of the story) so I wasn't suprised when he died. It did break my heart, though. I wouldn't call myself a Denny/Izzie fan but watching her break down in tears pained me. But I loved, loved, loved when Alex picked her up off the bed... it was such a beautiful gesture. But then I've loved everything about Alex recently (despite his assiness). Cristina disappointed me a little bit with her inability to be supportive of Burke (*sob* I hope his hand is okay) but the big disappointment was the Meredith/Derek love triangle ending. I'm so over them. And I'm a Mer/Der fan. They almost killed the finale for me.

America's Next Top Model
Loved that both Joanie and Danielle were in the final 2. I would have been so pissed if Jade had made it that far. I was already pissed that she was in the final 3! I think I was rooting for Joanie just a tad bit more but I'm satisfied with Danielle winning. They both took absolutely gorgeous pictures. Overall, though, I think this cycle was kinda... meh. No one really stood out to me (well, except for Jade but she stood out for all the wrong reasons). Even Joanie and Danielle don't seem to have that "it" quality. In person, they just don't come across like models. But then, a couple of the past winners didn't strike me as having model qualities either (ie. Naima and Nicole). Oh well, I've never thought that ANTM actually produced real models anyway.

Veronica Mars
So it was Beaver. He did exhibit some questionable behavior throughout the season so I can buy it. I liked him, though... when I thought he was just a shy teenager who was bullied around. Now? Not so much. He orchestrated the bus crash. And if that's not enough, he raped Veronica. !!! *shudders* Poor Veronica. I was crying with her when she confronted Beaver about the rape. And while I'm not a Logan/Veronica fan, I did love the way he was so protective of her in that rooftop scene but their reunion gave me whiplash. It wasn't too long ago that Veronica walked away from him with tears streaming down her face. Plus, I would rather *see* them get to the point where they can be in a relationship instead of watching flashbacks of their summer together in the season 3 premiere. As for the rest of the finale, I thought anything involving Jackie was unnecessary (her storyline should have been resolved in previous episodes) and my favorite scene was Duncan's brief conversation with Clarence Wiedman and their reference to the CW. Hehe! I'm worried about Weevil, though... I hope his arrest doesn't mean he won't be around next season. :(

Aaaaannnnnddd I have about 10 other finales to write about but it's time for bed. :D

May 28, 2006

Aahhh, 3 day weekends are so awesome.

I've been watching movies like a crazy person (possible spoilers ahead)...

Mission Impossible:3
What a fun movie. There's really no story to speak of... but there's a ton of action and really, that's all that matters. :D I even managed to get over my Tom Cruise issues and remembered why I used to love him. He does have that slightly crazy grin but he's really a fantastic actor. But Jonathan Rhys Meyers was probably the highlight of the movie for me. I'm so shallow. He was in the majority of the movie and had a few comedic moments. *drool* It was also good to see Keri Russell again. She is incredibly gorgeous. It's too bad she was barely in the movie. :( Anyway, yay for JJ Abrams! He delivered a great movie. And of course, it wouldn't be a JJ project without a cameo from Greg Grunberg! Heh.

The Da Vinci Code
I was really looking forward to this movie and unfortunately, it was a little disappointing. Tom Hanks completely didn't match up to the Robert Langdon I imagined while reading the book. :( I think Tom Hanks played it safe and made Langdon kinda boring. He didn't own the character or make him unique. I'm having a hard time remembering his performance... it just wasn't that memorable. Audrey Tautou (she's so pretty!) and Ian McKellan, though, were great (but then again, when hasn't Ian McKellan been great?). There were only a few subtle changes in the film translation, which I didn't even pick up on until I started rereading the book. I do think that reading the book will help in following the movie, if only because there are so many historical and religious references that would have gone over my head otherwise. Or maybe I just didn't pay enough attention in school. :D This is entirely possible.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand
Didn't love this one as much as X2. It was still fun, though. And still much better than the first movie. I liked the additions of Kitty Pryde and the Beast and I was happy to see Iceman and Pyro (SQUEE!) again. Rogue continued to annoy, however (and I LIKE Anna Paquin). But I CANNOT(!!!) believe they killed off the Professor, Jean, AND Cyclops all in the same movie. *sob* Especially Cyclops. I love James Marsden. AND they stripped Magneto and Mystique of their powers. WTFOMG. I guess the Wolverine spin-off is up next... I just don't see how they can do another X-Men movie with everyone gone.

I totally want to see Over the Hedge And I still have to watch Stick It. :P

May 23, 2006

I'm back... had a good weekend in So Cal. Didn't do much. Just spent time with my family and enjoyed the sun. :D

Anyway, I realized I haven't taken a look at the new schedules for CBS, FOX, and the CW yet...

CBS
I don't watch anything on CBS besides CSI so I'm happy. :P If I get the chance next season, though, I would like to check out The Unit. I've heard some excellent things about the show... plus, Dennis Haysbert and Scott Foley! YES.

FOX
Again, I don't watch anything else on FOX besides The OC, which I'm tempted to give up on because I've heard spoilers about the finale that I'm not too happy about. I'm hoping I'll get the chance to watch it this weekend. Anyway, it might be an easier decision than I thought since it looks like both CSI and Grey's Anatomy are also going to be on Thursdays at 9pm. Ooohh, I think I want to check out Justice. If only because I fully support Victor Garber and Kerr Smith. :D Notice a pattern here? I'm barely skimming the show descriptions... it only piques my interest when I recognize an actor's name. Hehe.

The CW
I'm still peeved about 7th Heaven getting renewed after it had it's *series* finale. :( Other than that, there aren't really any surprises on the CW schedule... besides Everwood, all the other shows I watch (ie. OTH, GG, VM, etc.) got renewed. I am kinda excited to see that Everybody Hates Chris is moving to Sundays, though. Hopefully I'll get the chance to catch an episode from time to time. I only caught the pilot episode, which I really enjoyed, but I've only heard good things about the show.

So that's it then. Season finale comments coming soon. :D

OMG. It looks like Everwood was actually supposed to be picked up. The CW even made a website for it here. Seeing that makes the cancellation worse. It was *thisclose* to getting renewed.

At least I know it was 7th Heaven that killed my show. Dawn Ostroff herself confirms this here in an interview with TV Guide's Michael Ausiello. I still don't quite get it, though. I mean, couldn't 7th Heaven's finale have drawn in such high ratings simply *because* it was a SERIES finale? I know I've tuned in for series finales to shows I've long since stopped watching only because I want to see how it all ends.

Sorry for all the posts on this subject, LOL. I have to stop.

Ok... in some funny news, if you're a Grey's Anatomy fan, you have to watch this video from the Upfronts. Burke, The Chief and McDreamy! In the shower! That's pretty awesome. :D Credit goes to TI or Repro Images for sharing the video.

Anyway, I'm taking the day off tomorrow so Rob and I can drive down to Southern CA to visit the family. I won't be around until Sunday so I hope everyone has a great weekend! :)

I was living in the land of denial until today but I can't anymore... It's official. Everwood has been cancelled. Damn CW.

*sob* What a horrible way to start my Thursday morning.

May 17, 2006

Some early news about pickups and cancellations on The CW. *sigh* DAMN IT.

Anyway, some comments on the NBC and ABC upfronts...

NBC
I knew NBC was doing horrible but I didn't realize HOW horrible. OMG, they have A TON of new shows next season. Sadly, the only new show I have any interest in watching is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. And that's pretty much because of Matthew Perry (YAY, I'm so excited he's back on TV!) and Bradley Whitford. I think they'll make a great team. Plus, it's an Aaron Sorkin show. He never fails with the dialogue.

Ok, I take it back. I *may* also be interested in checking out Heroes because I just saw Greg Grunberg's name on the cast list. Although the show's premise sounds borderline cheesy... "Ordinary people discover they have extraordinary powers." This show could go either way.

I can't believe that The Apprentice was renewed. I mean, seriously?! NBC must really be hurting. It's had horrible ratings and it's gotten worse each season it's been on the air. I'm glad about Las Vegas, though. It's a terrible show (who cares about Danny and Delinda? Not me) but I need my Josh Duhamel fix. YUM.

ABC
It's no surprise that Desperate Housewives, Lost and Grey's Anatomy were renewed. I'm REALLY surprised that What About Brian was renewed. I never made it past the first episode.

It's sad not to see Alias listed. *sob*

I think I'm going to check out --

Day Break - Sounds like a mix of shows that have all been done before... a detective is accused of killing an Asst. DA and he will keep reliving the same day until he figures out who is framing him. But you know, this is different. Cause it's Taye Diggs. :P

Six Degrees - This show intrigues me because it's another JJ Abrams-produced show.

But of course, once the promos start airing and the Entertainment Weekly Fall TV Preview issue comes out, everything could change and I'll watch none of the shows I thought I would.

Off to check out the CBS schedule...

:D

OMG. Why does the CW upfront have to be on Thursday?!? Don't they know I am WAITING to hear about my beloved Everwood? It's hard knowing that the decision has been made but I still have to wait. ARGH.

Damn. I just read The Ausiello Report and he's not too hopeful.

May 13, 2006

So this TV character "Favorite Moments" meme was MUCH harder than I anticipated. I have the absolute worst memory and I probably have more favorite moments... but I did my best!

EVERWOOD

Ephram
1. Amy: I thought you'd be in New York already.
Ephram: I think I'm gonna skip New York this year. I mean, it's the worst time to go anyway.
Amy: Really? I didn't know that.
Ephram: Yeah, it's super humid. Maybe for Christmas.
Amy: Yeah, it'd probably be nice to be home for the holidays.
Ephram: Yeah, maybe, but...
Amy: But what?
Ephram: I am home.
-- Episode 1.23: Home
Awww. Happy Ephram rules.

2. Ephram (to Madison): I'm going to my car, when I turn around, you'll be inside and that will be that.
-- Episode 2.18: Last Looks
I've always thought this was a perfect break-up scene. Sad yet hopeful at the same. And Ephram's face... he made me sad right along with him.

3. Ephram: Amy? I still love you.
-- Episode 4.09: Getting to Know You
This broke my heart. Ephram found the courage to open his heart to Amy and it was beautiful.

Bright
1. [Amy and Colin are announced as Homecoming Couple but Colin is nowhere to be found. Bright takes Amy's hand.]
Amy: What are you doing?
Bright: Standing in.
Amy: I can't go up there, Bright. Not without Colin.
Bright: It's OK. We'll do this together.
-- Episode 1.14: Colin the Second
One of my favorite Everwood scenes. It just captures who Bright is as a character.

2. When Bright gave up sex with Gemma to rescue Dr. Abbott who is asleep on a ski lift. He mutters to himself, "If I die tonight and don't go to heaven, I'm gonna be so pissed."
-- Episode 1.15: Snow Job
Bwah! Bright rocks.

3. Bright renting the Promebago.
-- Episode 2.20: Do Or Die.
No other reason than it's classic Bright.

ONE TREE HILL

Nathan
1. Nathan (after giving Haley a Cracker Jack bracelet): Don't say I never gave you anything.
-- Episode 1.03: Are You True?
Ahhh, the original arrogant Nathan. And so began my Nathan/Haley love.

2. It's a small moment but I just adore when Nathan finally shows affection towards Haley at school. He runs over to her at the end of the episode and gently tucks a strand of hair behind her ear as his friends look on.
-- Episode 1.08: With Arms Outstretched

3. Nathan: I gotta tell you, man. I never thought when we played that one on one game, that I'd end up back here, feeling like this.
Lucas: Like what?
Nathan: Like I'm going to miss you. But you've gotta do what you feel. I actually wish you weren't going to leave. Because you're one hell of a basketball player. And because you're my brother. Take care of yourself, man.
-- Episode 1.22: The Games That Play Us
As much I love Nathan and Haley, it's the relationship between Nathan and Lucas that are the center of the show. And this scene shows how far they've come since the pilot.

THE O.C.

Seth
1. Seth: Well, what if we were to slow it down a little bit... maybe start from the beginning.
Summer: What do you mean?
[Seth gets off the bed and puts his record player on. 'Wonderwall' begins to play. He motions for Summer to join him.]
Summer: You are so cheesy, Cohen.
Seth: Come on, I'm sweeping you off your feet.
Summer: Well, the sad part is... you kind of are.
-- Episode 1.19: The Heartbreak
Really a Seth/Summer moment but I just love the way he is so gentle with her. *sigh*

2. Seth wearing Ryan's wifebeater. HEE!
-- Episode 2.07: Family Ties

3. Seth (to Kirsten during the intervention): Mom please, you gotta do this.
-- Episode 2.24: Dearly Beloved
Oh man. This was so effective. GUH.

VERONICA MARS

Logan
1. Veronica: Look at you, all helpful.
Logan: Hey, your peskiness being unleashed on Connor brings me joy. Annoy, tiny blonde one. Annoy like the wind!
-- Episode 1.10: An Echolls Family Christmas
Classic Logan charm.

2. [After finding out that his sister was the one who used his mother's credit (and effectively squashing his hope that his mother was still alive), Logan's rests his head on Veronica and she brings her arm around his head and cradles it and rubs his back with her other hand. He weeps.]
Logan: She's gone. She's gone.
-- Episode 1.15: Ruskie Business
*sob*

3. After Logan and Veronica share their first kiss and Veronica silently walks to her car, Logan follows her with a look that makes me swoon.
-- Episode 1.18: Weapons of Class Destruction

DAWSON'S CREEK

Drue
All my favorite Drue moments include Jen... pretty much because the writers didn't flesh him out as a character too well. I wish they had kept him on for season 5, though, because I thought he and Jenn had great potential. Ahhh, what could have been...

1. Jen: Drue, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry I used you.
Drue: Apology accepted.
-- Episode 4.17: Admissions
Up until this point I wasn't entirely convinced that Drue really cared about Jenn. But this scene cemented it. He looked so hurt. Oh, the angst.

2. Drue: Jack told me everything, and my answer is yes. Jen, I'd love to go to the prom with you.
-- Episode 4.20: Promicide
Hee! The HUGE smile on Drue's face is classic.

3. Drue climbs up to Jen's window and she lets him inside her room and wraps a blanket around him since he's freezing from the cold outside. He asks for a place to crash for the night and when she says "Yes," she tousles his hair and he gives her the CUTEST smile ever. AWWW.
-- Episode 4.22: The Graduate

Audrey
1. Giving Dawson a tour of the Worthington campus.
-- Episode 5.02: The Lost Weekend
I saw potential for a fun relationship with Dawson and Audrey (she would totally loosen him up!).

2. When Audrey spilled food on herself (twice!) to get Joey to accompany her to the kitchen and talk about the kiss they saw between Jen and Dawson.
-- Episode 5.10: Appetite For Destruction
I'm not the biggest Audrey fan but I do think she was a good friend to Joey (a much-needed female friend, actually). At least in season 5.

3. Speaking her mind at Christmas dinner.
-- Episode 6.10: Merry Mayhem
Her little tirade was completely inappropriate for the occasion but it was spot-on.

Pacey
ACK. I LOVE PACEY. How can I pick just 3 favorite moments?!?

1. Pacey (to Joey): I remember everything.
-- Episode 3.22: The Anti-Prom
The ULTIMATE ROMANTIC moment.

2. Pacey (to his dad who has passed out drunk on the beach): Why can't you see me, huh? When did you give up on me? When I was 5? 10? 12? I'm 16 years old, Dad! *starting to cry* I'm trying so hard for you. It's your job. It's your job to love me no matter who I am or what I become because you're my father! You're my dad! You're supposed to love me you son of a bitch. I can't do this by myself.
-- Episode 2.12: Uncharted Waters
Pacey's pain *kills* me here. Josh Jackson is amazing.

3. Pacey sitting in the graduation seats at Capeside High by himself with his head tilted to the sky and a smile on his face.
-- Episode 4.22: The Graduate
Just a really sweet moment. I love Pacey.

PHEW! That was tough. :D

Just finished watching the Veronica Mars season finale. I was looking forward to it ALL DAY and I gotta admit that I was a little disappointed. The resolution to the season just seemed so rushed. Oh well. I'll post more thoughts once I get the chance to watch it again. Maybe this weekend.

Anyway, keep naming characters for the meme in the previous entry! I'll post my answers tomorrow. :D

OMG. Prison Break stresses me out.

Saw this meme over on LJ and it looks like fun...

Name a character from one of my fandoms, and I will tell you my top 3 moments or scenes (or at least 3 of my favorites) of them.

I'm limiting the fandom options to:
Dawson's Creek
Everwood
One Tree Hill
Veronica Mars
The OC
(These are all my fun shippy shows so it'll be easier for me to remember the episodes).

OKAY... GO!

:)

May 7, 2006

Oh man, I had a busy (but good!) weekend. Sometimes I feel like I need a weekend from my weekend!

On Friday I learned that you should not attempt to buy guacamole on Cinco de Mayo. Rob and I were going to a friend's for dinner (he was making carnitas, grilled shrimp, watermelon margaritas and agua fresca -- YUM!) and I was in charge of bringing guacamole. OF COURSE I thought I could pick it up right before we headed over but we hit 2 grocery stores and couldn't find a single package of guacamole. How was I supposed to know that guacamole would be sold out?!? HEH.

On Saturday morning, I headed over to Bliss Spa for a facial (Rob's treat!). Mmmm. I also figured I should get a brow wax since I've never had one before and wanted to see if it would make a difference. OMG. I can't handle the pain. I am SUCH a wimp. I liked the results (made my eyes less "droopy" looking) but... EEEKK. I don't know if I can do that again.

Then today, Rob and I had a wedding to attend. Is it just me or is it a little strange to hold a wedding on a Sunday and at 5:00pm at that?! Maybe if it's a long weekend or something... but people have work the next day! Well whatever, it was a great event. The ceremony and the reception were at the Mitchell Katz Winery in Pleasanton, which was so pretty. Acres and acres of grapevines surrounded the event center and the roses in the gardens were so bright and colorful. I'm such a sap that as the bridal party walked down the aisle, I started tearing up. I can't help it! I love weddings.

May 4, 2006

First things first. Happy Belated Birthday Nicola! :D

I also answered some questions a few of you had regarding CreekCaps over here.

And now TV.

I've been feeling very "Meh" about TV this season but then I watched last night's episodes of Alias and Lost. And they pretty much blew me away. It's good to be unspoiled!

So Alias. Poor Nadia. Betrayed by Sloane again. I cringed when the camera closed in on the glass protruding from her neck. EEEK. I wish she hadn't been brought back to life only to be killed again. :( But it makes sense that they needed something to compel Sloane to work with Prophet Five again. I'm sad she won't be in the series finale.

Then Lost. My first reaction after the episode was OMGWTF!!! And seriously, I'm still feeling the same way. Michael shot Ana Lucia and Libby! MICHAEL! I definitely think he's an Other now... he's different somehow. He's got to be working with them. His actions don't really make sense otherwise... especially since he shot himself in the arm. WHOA. I mean, WHAT?!? What's going on? Damn, I can't wait for next week.

I have got to be the worst Jonathan Rhys-Meyers fan. I had NO IDEA he was in MI:3!!! Now I MUST see it this weekend. JRM on the big screen... GUH.
