August 30, 2006

I just realized that I never finished up my season finale commentaries. Since the new season's about to start, I figure I might as well knock these out. You know, for posterity.

SPOILERS ARE AHEAD...
One Tree Hill
HATED the ending. I mean, Haley screaming as Nathan jumps into the river to rescue Rachel and Uncle Cooper?!? What is THAT about? The poor girl just got married. Seeing the credits roll after that just about KILLED me. What if the show hadn't been renewed? Grrr. And I'm so torn about the Peyton/Lucas/Brooke triangle. I love L/P but I completely understand Brooke's feelings of betrayal. I really, really wish that the L/P storyline had played out differently... without Brooke getting hurt. Blah. Especially if it turns out that she's pregnant. This is so my guilty pleasure show but we would be SO OVER if any other main female character besides Karen is pregnant.

Desperate Housewives
Susan got on my nerves, Betty Applewhite did nothing, and I... got so bored. I actually have about 4 (maybe more???) episodes saved on my Tivo but I know I'm never going to sit down and watch them. I don't think I'll be watching season 3.

Las Vegas
I want to see Danny in a relationship with Sam... but that's just wishful thinking. Instead, he falls in love with Delinda (again) who is about to be married. WHY?!? Oh Josh Duhamel, the things I put up with for you. I read somewhere (maybe it was Ask Ausiello) that the upcoming season's episode order was reduced. :/ It's not looking good...

Supernatural
This is a great show but honestly it's not one of those shows that I'm *obsessed* with... I haven't watched all the episodes multiple times and I don't plan on purchasing the DVDs. So sadly, I can't really remember all the details from the finale. Something about the demon inhabiting John's body? And Sam not shooting him? THIS is why I need to write up my commentaries right after watching the episode and not months after, heh. I do remember the image of the unconscious Winchesters after they were hit by the huge semi. :( That crash totally took me by surprise.

Lost
I can't believe that Michael left Kate, Jack and Sawyer with Henry Gale. HENRY GALE. Dude is seriously creepy. His eyes make him look possessed or something. *shudders* What about Eko, Desmond, and Locke?! The freaking hatch blew up! Why is Charlie still around? And he had to go and have a cute ending with Claire. Ugh. I don't quite know why I dislike him so much. But I do. I'm still bitter that Boone had to die and I have to watch Charlie every week. :/ The whole Penelope ending went way over my head so I'll obviously have to pay better attention next season.

Still have a few more commentaries to write... hopefully I'll finish them this weekend. I need the closure. :D

The Emmys are on and I'm not watching (you know, the whole lack of cable issue). Waaahhh.

I've actually been procrastinating in getting cable installed again because it looked like we were going to be moving much sooner than we thought. Rob just got a new job in San Carlos (YaY!!!); however, it's not close to where we live. AT ALL. It's about a 45 min. to 1 hr. drive (one way!) at best. So we thought we should probably move somewhere that'll be like "middle ground" for us since I'll still be working in Oakland. That would lead us to the other side of the Bay Bridge... or in Bay Area speak, to the peninsula (the area south of San Francisco leading to San Jose). We took a drive this morning to check out the area... no luck. One apartment community we liked in San Bruno was WAY out of our budget so we kinda gave up. After much discussion, we decided to stay where we are, especially since we recently found out that we no longer have to vacate our apartment in 120 days like I originally mentioned in this entry. So yeah. We're staying put. For now. AND WE CAN GET CABLE AGAIN.

Anyway. We also saw Snakes on a Plane today. Hehehe. Pretty bad movie but HIGHLY entertaining. I screamed out loud during a couple of scenes. Good times.

My office is closing early the Friday before Labor Day so we can have a "Guys and Dolls" golf tournament. We're all going to be paired up (a guy and a girl -- hence the name) and then we'll alternate shots on a 9-hole course. I thought it sounded like fun so I signed up even though I've never picked up a golf club in my life.

Until today, that is.

My boss thought it would be fun to take me out to the driving range so I could get some practice... WOW.

I SUCK. I kept running the club into the ground. Hehe. And then when I would actually make contact with the ball, it would roll about 2 feet. NO JOKE.

*le sigh*

No one will want to play with me! :P

I'm hoping Rob will take me out to the driving range again this weekend just so I won't make a complete and total fool of myself next Friday.

Prison Break premieres tomorrow and we STILL DO NOT HAVE CABLE.

This is going to be a problem. I even missed the USA Gymnastics National Championships this weekend. !!! I have to call Comcast tomorrow to see if I can pretend to be a new customer.

Since we don't have TV, we've been watching a whole lot of DVDs from Netflix. We just finished the first season of Battlestar Galactica. Weeelll, I take that back. *Rob* finished the first season of Battlestar Galactica. I didn't really think it was my type of show so I just kinda watched it (ie. listened while doing something else). It actually grew on me. I couldn't tell you any of the character's names but I have a sense of the personalities and relationships and a rough idea of the storyline. Plus, I have discovered Jamie Bamber. HELLO. Hehe.

Rob and I have been dog-sitting his brother and sister-in-law's maltese named Smush. OMG, he is the cutest thing EVER. He's been with us since last Saturday and he totally makes me want a dog. :( Too bad our apartment won't let us have dogs. (Shh!!! Don't tell anyone we're harboring a fugitive, hehe). A couple of cute pics:

And then a pic of Smush after he's been running around the apartment like a maniac:

AWWWW.

Ok, so the answer to the "Guess the Truth" meme below is #2. :D

Yes, I did audition for a dancing role in the movie Toys. It was when I was in elementary school and I was training at a ballet school in Santa Monica. We used to get information about casting calls all the time and I happened to go to this one. I was so excited because I got to miss a day of school and everything! I also got paid just for auditioning. A measly $10 and, of course, with taxes taken out, I think I ended up with $5. Heh. Sadly, I did not get a role but I did get to meet Barry Levinson. That was cool.

As for the other lies...

I was actually a Mass Communications major in college.
I was born in California.
I am an only child.
My favorite Harry Potter book is Goblet of Fire.
I have not vacationed in Greece. But I want to!!! Someday.

Speaking of trips, I am SO INCREDIBLY excited for my vacation to Paris. Not even the thought of getting to the airport hours ahead of time and being extra careful not to pack liquids in my carry-on can get me down. :D Rob and I are leaving on 10/12 (the day after my birthday!) and come back on 10/20, so we'll have 7 full days there. (Or well, I guess you could say 6 days since that first day we probably won't have too much energy what with the jet lag and all). I spent a good portion of the weekend checking out the forums on Fodors and Trip Advisor to get information on things to see, costs, transportation, weather, etc. I visited Paris in 1997 for a short amount of time (my family did one of those whirlwind tours where you see 7 cities in 3 weeks) so all I've seen up close is the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Catacombs and Versailles. Can't wait to see other sites I missed, especially the Musee D'Orsay. The Degas pieces are calling me!

Off to do more research. :)

August 9, 2006

I am tired from ballet tonight so... it's meme time!

I have been tagged by Tams for this. I have to list five lies and one truth about myself. Hmmm....can you figure out the truth?

1. I was a Biology major in college.
2. I auditioned for a dancing role in the movie Toys.
3. I was born in the Philippines.
4. I have 2 siblings.
5. My favorite Harry Potter book is Chamber of Secrets.
6. I've vacationed in Greece.

Post what you think is the truth in the comments!

List 25 things which make you happy right now (people, objects, anything!).

01. family and friends (always)
02. my iPod. I take it absolutely everywhere.
03. the thought of an upcoming vacation (to Paris -- *crosses fingers*)
04. FOOD in general. I *LOVE* to eat and try new restaurants. So many choices in the Bay Area!
05. shopping. I am a firm believer in retail therapy.
06. ballet classes. It's a tough workout that doesn't actually feel like one.
07. making my budget and getting a bonus at work
08. September magazines. Fall fashion is the best.
09. skirts. They make me feel so girly.
10. Fridays. I love the feeling of having the weekend ahead of me.
11. All my TV DVDs. Especially now that we have no cable!
12. Jamba Juice. SOOOO good on a warm summer day.
13. my blog and all my sites
14. looking at pictures from the past (and making fun of myself while doing so!)
15. flip flops. They're so comfy.
16. sleeping in
17. Baskin Robbins rocky road ice cream
18. getting real emails from friends
19. coffee runs with my co-workers
20. spur-of-the-moment activities with friends
21. the holidays in just a few short months
22. pay day
23. seeing new comments on my blog *hint* ;)
24. torrent sites. They are a huge help with downloading Project Runway and Entourage. Not having cable suuuuuucks.
25. my teddy bear from Build A Bear. OMGILOVEHIMSO.

Phew. That was fun. Let me know if you decide to do the meme too!

:D Time for bed.

August 7, 2006

No jury duty. WOOT. I'm safe for another year.

BUT. I also have some bad news. We no longer have cable in our apartment.

I KNOW.

Our contract with Comcast was up so they raised the monthly rate to something completely ridiculous so we cancelled the service. Waaahhh. I can't even watch the basic networks cause the reception is so awful. We better get this fixed before the fall TV season starts. (I obviously have my priorities straight). ;)

I guess I'll finally be able to catch up on the last few season finales that I still have saved on the Tivo (OC, Smallville, Desperate Housewives). Heh.

August 5, 2006

Argh, the dreaded day is almost here. On Sunday I have to call in for... jury duty.

ACK. I am SO not looking to calling in. I hope, hope, hope that I don't have to report to court. I'd actually rather be at work.

Speaking of work, this is a handy site if you're trying to disguise your internet activities from your boss. Hehehe.

Watched Hitch tonight and really, really liked it. I'm *such* a romantic comedy kind of girl. :D Plus, Will Smith is awesome.

So I never blogged about my cousin's wedding last weekend. Despite the heat (I can't get over how HOT it is in SoCal -- I don't remember it being that hot in high school?!!), I had a great time. I was in the wedding party as a secondary sponsor. I got to walk down the aisle and everything! I think this might be a filipino tradition but there's a part in the middle of the ceremony where there are 4 additional wedding rites -- coin, cord, veil, and candle. I was asked to do the veil. I carried a huge veil down the aisle and after my cousin and his wife exchanged vows and rings, the priest called my partner and I up to the altar and we had to pin the veil on both the bride and groom as a symbol of their unity. It's a really pretty part of the ceremony.

The reception was at the Marina Hotel in San Pedro. It's right on the water so it was absolutely gorgeous. Some pics...

The one on the right is of Rob, me, my favoritest cousin ever Riz (it was her brother who got married -- she was a bridesmaid) and her boyfriend Josh. :D

August 1, 2006

I absolutely HAVE to see John Tucker Must Die. Hehe.

So. Rob and I just got our official notice to move out of our apartment in 120 days. The owner has decided to convert all the apartments (5 buildings) into condos. They started issuing notices last September but we haven't been thinking about it much since 120 days is more than enough time to find a place and move. But now that it's here... BLAH. We thought we might be ready to move back to LA by this time but I don't think that's going to happen just yet. 2007 seems more likely.

Just thinking about moving causes me stress. Packing, lugging boxes around, unpacking... GUH. I'm hoping we can get the move done in September. Before we go on vacation in October (*crosses fingers*).
