I'm finally posting about the new TV season!!! First up, the new shows...

SPOILERS ARE AHEAD...
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
I wasn't that impressed with the premiere. Or even the second episode. The show's a little too... preachy, maybe? I mean, I liked it but I kinda felt talked at, if that makes any sense. I'm also not crazy about Amanda Peet as Jordan. She comes across as too wide-eyed and innocent for me. And she only has 1 expression! The dialogue is sharp, though, and I absolutely adore the relationship between Matt and Danny (yay Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford!). I'll keep watching for them alone. I just wish the show didn't air at 10pm. That's my bedtime, hehe. :D

Six Degrees
This show had to be great for me to make it appointment TV since Thursday night is entirely too crowded as it is (SMVL, SN, Grey's, OC). And it just didn't quite get there. I liked the characters but not enough to *care.* Sure, Whitney's fiance is appalling, Damian's situation frustrating and Laura's story tragic but... that's it. Nothing's drawing me back for another episode. Mostly because they're all such cliched storylines... cheating fiance, good guy with gambling debt, etc. I did enjoy the newly formed friendship between Damian and Carlos, though. That's a plus. I'll stick around for another episode.

Heroes
This is the best of the new shows I've seen so far. Reminds me of X-Men, which is probably why I like it so much. :D My favorites so far are Hiro (HEE!), Claire (her Dad is creeeepy), and Nathan (yes, even though he's an a**hole). I wanted to like Niki but her bitchy attitude is such a turn-off. WHAT IS HER DEAL? I'm also on the fence about Pete. The mystery about his power is intriguing but I just don't think Milo Ventimiglia's a good actor. :/ Anyway, this show definitely has a place on my TV schedule. Greg Grunberg next week, yay!

Ugly Betty
I. LOVED. THIS. SHOW. Awww. :D (I was secretly hoping it would be awful so I'd have one less show to watch on Thursdays... no such luck). America Ferrera rocks. It was predictable but it was also over the top and campy and it worked! I'm hooked!

So out of the 4 shows above, I'll probably be tuning in for 3 of them regularly. Oh boy.

I got home today, looked at my blog and was just tired of it. Found this apple photo and decided to throw it up there... yay! I can't believe I had the same layout for a year. I'm totally lazy, hehe.

Still trying to finish up on my season finale commentaries. I briefly thought about giving up since, I don't know... THE NEW SEASON HAS STARTED. But I can't give up. So...

SPOILERS ARE AHEAD...
Everwood
It's over. It's really over. *sniff* But I'm glad the show went out the way it did. I absolutely LOVED the series finale. After it initially aired, I think I must have watched it a million times that week. It was a very fitting and well done ending. There wasn't much that I didn't love so I want to get that out of the way first...

Things I Wish Were Different
-- Despite being 2 hours, the finale felt a little rushed. But I only have The CW to blame for that.
-- Hannah going to Colorado A&M. I wish she had believed in herself enough to choose Notre Dame.
-- Nina being the one to initiate her break-up with Jake. I wish that storyline was resolved prior to the finale. If only because it felt a little like whiplash seeing her with Andy at the end.
-- I missed the ending narration. :( But I found this entry on LJ, where one fan has written his/her own version of a narration. It would have been perfect.

Favorite Moments:
-- Nina and Hannah tossing the engagement ring back and forth in Andy's bedroom. Hilarious!
-- Andy at Julia's grave. *sob*
-- Drunk Amy at the Bat Mitzvah. HEE!
-- Delia getting her horse. I love the continuity!
-- Andy's proposal to Nina.
-- Bright and Hannah's scene on the hilltop. I've never really been a fan of their relationship but I liked that they kept the possibility of the future in the air. And their hug! It was one of those hugs that are really tight and meaningful. Best Friends for life. Awww.
-- Dr. Abbott and Rose getting the baby.
-- Amy's flashbacks to all her moments with Ephram.
-- Amy's grand gesture. Go Amy! I loved seeing her go after Ephram after all the times he's laid his feelings on the line for her. I loved seeing her look terrified and hopeful and beautiful all at the same time as she was standing in front of the ferris wheel. And Ephram's stunned reaction was classic. Gawd, I love them!

*sniff* I think I need to rewatch the finale...

Gilmore Girls
I used to be indifferent to Rory/Logan but the finale turned me right around. I absolutely loved their scenes and I have to admit to crying during their goodbye scene. They were the most mature I've seen in a long time. As for Luke and Lorelai, I'm over them. I just don't love them the way the fandom does so my loyalties are flexible. It's too bad cause they're turning Luke into a horrible character. :( I say bring on Christopher! The finale was great but all in all, there was too much of that trobadour storyline. I love this show but sometimes it needs to scale back a little on the random filler. Yay for the premiere next Tuesday!

Alias
I'm sad it's over. (Even though the show probably should have bowed out a few seasons earlier, IMO). I wish that the writers would have found a way to end the show without killing off Jack. *sniff* He was the best. But at least he died to ensure Sloane wouldn't be able to cause anyone pain again. I was also upset about Tom's death. He and Rachel had so much potential that it was sad to see it squashed so quickly. I know it's a finale but there should be some storylines left for the imagination, you know? Not quite sure how I feel about Irina's death... she was a great character but I was really disappointed that she chose Rambaldi over Syd. :( All in all, I was satisfied with the ending and I loved seeing Syd and Vaughn together and happy at last.

I suppose that's it. I have about 4 episodes of Smallville left on the Tivo and I doubt I'll find the time to sit and watch them before the premiere. I'll probably just skim through some recaps on TWOP. Hopefully that'll be all I need to understand what the heck is going on. I'm such a bad fan. :/

WB Farewell.

September 17, 2006

Today was the last night of the WB. And I was looking forward to watching the series premieres from BtVs, Dawson's Creek, and Felicity.

BUT NO.

The local WB affiliate has already switched over to a new network and was airing completely different programming. I flipped through almost all my channels desperately hoping that I'd find the WB on a different channel.

I am so sad. I read that they aired old image campaigns and promos. I *loved* those! Guh.

I'm really going to miss the WB. It took me from high school to college and fueled my TV obsession by introducing me to my all-time favorite shows Dawson's Creek and Everwood. I'll always love it. Farewell. (Gawd, I'm such a cheeseball!)

It's 1am and I'm downloading Debbie Gibson and Tiffany songs on iTunes.

OMG, these songs bring me back to elementary school. And I've just aged myself like, a billion years. HEE!

I kinda want a new iPod. Damn Apple.

I was perfectly happy with my 30gb iPod until the other day, when they announced the new iPods. Longer battery life, a new search interface, movies/games capabilities and an 80gb model.

80GB! IWANTONESOBAD.

But I won't. I need to save money... for Paris, for Christmas and maybe for a car (!). I *am* thinking of getting a Shuffle, though. It would be perfect for working out. My iPod can be a little bulky, especially when running, etc.

Speaking of money wasting items, the Nintendo DS Lite is now available in pink in the US. Love it. I'd be able to play Mario Kart! That might just be reason enough to get it. Hehe. Except... NO, I WON'T. I WILL STAY STRONG.

Anyway, it's Friday night and you know what I'm doing (well, besides looking at things I can't afford)? I'm sitting here playing with the new iTunes (which rocks, by the way)... going through all 1500 of my songs and downloading album artwork. My iPod screen is incomplete with out! I obviously... WIN AT LIFE. :D

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Someone tell me...

WHY I AM WATCHING DANCING WITH THE STARS??!!?

Anyway.

Life has been feeling a bit like a whirlwind lately. After a couple of weeks of communicating back and forth with an old manager of mine, she officially offered me a job today! I had been toying with the idea of starting the search for a new job (feeling a little bored at my current job) but this opportunity pretty much came and dropped itself in my lap. It's in the same industry (media buying), the position itself is a promotion, and the salary is about 30% more than I'm making now. It's pretty much a no-brainer. It'll definitely be more responsibility and more hours but I'm ready for a change. Now I just have to give my notice. My boss is the BEST and I adore working for him... it's going to be so hard telling him I'm going to leave. Ack. Just thinking about it pains me. :/

Ok, must think happy thoughts...

OMG. Just one more month 'til Paris! Woot.

A little late for today's anniversary (has it really been 5 years?!) but I'll always remember.

September 6, 2006

I forgot that Justice premiered last week. It's a new FOX show starring Victor Garber and Kerr Smith (Jack Bristow and Jack McPhee!!!) as lawyers who take on controversial and/or noteworthy cases. I almost missed it again tonight (I have ballet class on Wednesday nights) but I got home in time to catch the tail end of the episode.

I don't know, guys. I absolutely LOVE VG and KS but the 20 minutes that I saw was... not good. The show is trying so hard to be hip and edgy but it's more uneven than anything else. Even Amanda Seyfried (Lily!) playing the defendant couldn't help the episode. I'll stick it out for a few more weeks. I really want to like this show (mostly because of VG and KS, I have to admit). I'm crossing my fingers that it'll get better.

September 4, 2006

Just got back from seeing Little Miss Sunshine. GREAT movie. It's kinda sad and depressing but manages to balance out the mature situations with some absolutely hilarious moments. I particularly love all the times when the Hoover family had to push their VW van to get it started. Ahhh, that never stopped being funny. Highly recommended. :D
