I feel like I need a weekend from my weekend. I'm incredibly exhausted.

First of all, my allergies acted up so I spent a good part of the weekend sniffing and sleeping more than I normally would. Not how I wanted my weekend to go. UGH.

Second of all, Rob and I got a dog! :D He's a little shih-tzu puppy and we've named him Diesel. Isn't he the cutest?! I just wish he would sleep through the night! The breeder warned us that he would cry at night because he's so used to having his siblings around him for warmth. But I didn't realize how loud his little cries would be! So for the past 2 nights, he's woken me up at least 3 times during the night. :( I'm crossing my fingers for a full night's sleep tonight!

Not much blogging since I've been working loooooong hours. And I have to catch up with an obscene amount of TV.

BUT. I do have a piece of news to report. I think Rob and I are getting a dog. !!! YAY. So this makes us NEGATIVE in our wedding savings. Ahhh, we're off to a great start. Hee.

OMG, I can't stop looking at wedding websites... I'M ADDICTED. Help me. I think Rob and I have ONE detail pinned down, though -- we're probably going to have the wedding in Southern CA. Our families and most of our friends live down there so it just makes the most sense. One decision down... about a million to go!

Apologies in advance for all the blogging I'll be doing about wedding planning. :/ I hope you guys don't get too sick of me.

So the proposal story! :)

As you guys know, Rob and I were in Monterey last weekend for a belated anniversary trip. On Saturday night, we did the 17 Mile Drive at Pebble Beach. It's GORGEOUS. We tried to time it so that we would finish up in time for our dinner reservations at Roy's, which is located at a golf course at the beginning of the drive. We actually finished the drive with about a half hour to spare and I happened to mention to Rob that I loved the stop at Spanish Bay, which is a beautiful shoreline picnic area. Rob suggested that we go back to Spanish Bay and I was going to argue that we just go straight to the restaurant but I just went with it. I had NO CLUE about anything at this point.

When we got back to Spanish Bay, we decided to go for a walk on the sand. After a few steps, I quickly decided it was a bad idea because it was FREEZING and I was getting sand in my heels. Roy's has a dress code so I wasn't exactly wearing "beach attire." Hehe. On the way back to the car, Rob said that he had an anniversary present for me. I still didn't suspect anything. My thought was "YAY! Present!" So I sat in the car and attempted to get the sand out of my shoes and after a few minutes of Rob rustling in the trunk, he sat in the driver's seat and was holding Bub (our teddy bear that is ridiculously spoiled)...

Bub was wearing a tux and I knew something was up at this point. His cute little tux was embroidered to say "look inside my jacket..." !!! I started freaking out (internally) at this point and it took me a while to figure out how to open up Bub's jacket. When I finally got it open, there was a little pouch inside and I pulled out the ring. I said "What is this?" (as if I didn't already know!) and then Rob started tearing up (awww!). Then he said something like... "Kel, I love you. Will you marry me?" I honestly don't remember exactly what he said. It was a totally surreal moment. Anyway, of course, I said "Yes!" I also added "Thank you!" BWAH. I have no idea why I said that. We looked at each other and just started laughing. Then to top off all our silliness, Rob took the ring from me and almost put it on my right hand. WE WERE SUCH A MESS. :D

I'm still totally giddy from the whole thing. So... a couple of pictures!

Where we got engaged! Spanish Bay at Pebble Beach... Isn't it pretty?

And Bub in his tux! It was totally "us" that Bub was a part of the proposal... :D

I'm super tired and honestly, way too lazy to write up my proposal story so for now, here's a picture of my engagement ring:

I just LOVE it. It's so shiny and pretty. I kept staring at it during work today.

Hmmm, I really need a manicure. Stat.

In TV news, it's Upfronts week! NBC's was today and there's nothing really exciting to note except for the following...

-- Heroes is expanding its universe with 6 stand-alone episodes revolving around new characters and their back stories. I love this show so I'm sure these Origins episodes will be just as awesome. This means 30 new Heroes episodes. Woot!

-- Friday Night Lights is moving to Friday nights at 10pm. I'm so happy the show's getting a second season but I just hate that the show's stuck on Fridays. UGH. But maybe that's my own hang-up... I don't normally watch TV on Fridays. Hopefully this move will be a good thing since it's away from American Idol and other heavyweight shows that air on Tuesdays.

I'm half-watching and half-listening to tonight's episode of 24 and it's totally upsetting me. This season is totally awful. :(

OMG. It has been freaking HOT here these past few days. *fans self* I hope the weather stays nice for the next few days cause Rob and I are taking a quick trip down to Monterey/Carmel for the weekend. It's a belated little getaway for our anniversary. :D

Anyway, I saw Spider-Man 3 on Saturday morning. 10am showing! HEE. My friends and I are dorks. We didn't want to deal with the crowds so we thought a morning showing would be best. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I'll just say that I was a tad disappointed. There were too many storylines going and not enough follow through. But I was entertained and I guess that's all I can ask for in a movie. Pirates 3 is next!

The Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix trailer played before Spidey 3 and... WOW. It looked absolutely amazing on the big screen. I am *so* excited for HP5. :D Which reminds me... I need to start my re-read of the books soon!

And because my old roommate Jimmy just got engaged and he keeps asking me to upload music, here's a mish-mash of recs for y'all --

I thought I would do a quick book post (haven't done one of these in *forever*) since Bev asked me why I didn't like The Time-Traveler's Wife...

I started and finished this book on the plane ride home from Paris so maybe I rushed it a little bit, I'm not sure. Anyway, I thought the story was compelling (I wouldn't have read 500+ pages if it was a snoozefest) and I thought the time-travelling concept was interesting (though I did find myself confused a few times because of all the back and forth) but I didn't care about the characters. They weren't very likeable, their choices frustrated me and I just didn't feel connected to them at all. :( Plus, I have to admit that the relationship between Henry and Clare made me cringe at times. <-- I think this'll make more sense after reading the book. Anyway, I hope that didn't dissuade anyone from checking this book out... I'd love to hear what you all have to say.

So, what have I been reading lately? I recently picked up a romance novel and I've found myself addicted to them. Hey, they're so easy to read! And fast too! I turned to Alie and Sarah for recs and they didn't disappoint. I'm currently on the last book of Nora Roberts's Three Sisters Island trilogy. The books combine witchcraft, suspense along with romance. It's a great mix and I love that the story isn't sacrificed or rushed along for the romance.

I've also read some chick-lit books... nothing particularly memorable except for Something Blue by Emily Giffin. UGH UGH UGH. I normally LOVE chick-lit, despite the heroine's typical flightiness, but Darcy in Something Blue was just awful. She was shallow, self-centered and obnoxious. I'm so glad I found the book on the bargain table at Borders.

Finally, I finished The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory, which I really enjoyed. It's my first stab at a historical novel and I was pleasantly surprised. I loved being immersed in Henry VIII's court (yes, despite all the inaccuracies) and thought it was an interesting choice to write the book from Mary Boleyn's perspective, who is overshadowed (in real life and in the book) by her sister Anne. Highly recommended. Anyone know if Philippa Gregory's other books are as good?

That's it for now... I don't think I'm very picky when it comes to books so if you have any recs, please share them! :)
