October 28, 2007

I know it's a little early but I've already starting making holiday cards and listening to Christmas music... so here's a fun meme I found on Chef Messy...

01. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot chocolate with a shot of peppermint flavoring and marshmallows

02. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Wrap presents, OF COURSE! Each year, I buy coordinating paper, ribbon, and tags from Martha Stewart's collection at K-Mart. I love it.

03. Coloured lights on tree/house or white?
White. I used to LOVE colored lights but now, not so much.

04. Do you hang mistletoe?
No, aside from the tree and our mini stockings on the TV stand, we don't really put up any other holiday decorations around the apartment.

05. When do you put your decorations up?
We usually buy our tree the day after Thanksgiving and decorate it that night. Rob puts the wire hangers on and I hang the ornaments.

06. What is your favourite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
It's a Filipino dish -- every Christmas Eve, my uncle makes what's called "Arroz Caldo," which is like a rice porridge with chicken. It's soooo good. He serves it right after midnight, once we've finished opening our presents.

07. Favourite Holiday memory as a child?
The smell of pancakes and bacon cooking as I woke up on Christmas morning. It's what my mom made every year until she passed away.

08. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Sadly, I don't remember.

09. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
All of them! Actually, it depends on the way you look at it. My family celebrates on Christmas Eve so after our big dinner, we wait and wait until midnight to open our presents. So technically, that's Christmas day. :D

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
My color "theme" is always gold and cream. Sooo elegant and pretty. I've collected a lot of ornaments over the years and I buy at least 2 or 3 each year to add to my stash.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
I haven't been to the snow in forever so I'm not sure how I feel about it now... But from what I remember when I was younger, it was lots of fun getting all bundled up and rolling around in it.

12. Can you ice skate?
Yes, but not well. And I can't go very fast because inevitably I'll lose control and fall over.

13. Do you remember your favourite gift?
Right now it's the diamond necklace I received from my dad last year. He rarely buys presents for me (he'll usually just give me cash or a gift card) so for him to take the time to really think about what to get makes it extra special.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Being with family and friends.

15. What is your favourite Holiday Dessert?
Pumpkin pie. It's a classic. Mmmm. My family also sometimes has this Strawberry Banana pie from Polly's Pies, which is absolutely drool-worthy.

16. What is your favourite holiday tradition?
I mentioned it above, actually -- it's eating my uncle's Arroz Caldo shortly after midnight on Christmas Eve.

17. What tops your tree?
A basic gold star.

18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving?
Giving. I love, love, love going Christmas shopping. I don't even mind the crowds. I just adore trying to find the absolute perfect gift for each person on my list.

19. What is your favourite Christmas Song?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! I also like Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, O Holy Night, Feliz Navidad, and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays (*N Sync).

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
YUM.

21. Do you still send paper Christmas cards?
Yes! it's a tradition I love.

22. What do you do with the gifts you won't ever use?
I usually just give them away. :/

23. Who is the hardest person to buy for on your list?
My Dad. He buys what he wants and doesn't really need anything. He's always a toughie.

24. Do you know anyone who was born on Christmas day?
Reggie, a friend from high school. Also, Donna Martin from Beverly Hills 90210.

25. How long after Christmas until you take down your decorations and tree?
I aim to have them all down and packed up by the first weekend in January. That doesn't always happen, though, hehe.

October 26, 2007

I went to the Burke Williams Spa for a facial in the SF Shopping Center for the first time tonight.

OMG. IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING. *happy sigh* I had a gift certificate that I received last Christmas (I can't believe I waited this long to use it!) and since Rob's out of town this weekend with Diesel, I decided to leave work early, head over to the spa to take advantage of the steam room, and relax before my appointment. Mmmm. It was a fabulous way to end this excruciatingly long week. I just wish I had enough disposable income to go every week. I guess I'll have to throw hints Rob's way since the holidays are coming up and all. Heh. :D

It's going to be a good weekend. I can feel it. :)

It's 11:30 on a Thursday night and I just finished... WORKING.

I don't get paid enough for this sh*t.

:(

In other news, I am ridiculously excited for Britney's new CD. I cannot wait. Woot!

October 22, 2007

So Rob and I happened to catch the tail-end of a Chuck rerun a few weekends ago and ended up *really* loving it... so much so that in the past week, we've caught up with all 4 episodes that have aired so far. It's a show that I initially wrote off because the premise sounded a little wacky but it totally works! I even like Sarah Lancaster in this and I normally... don't. I mean, she's a fine actress but I will always think of her as Madison, the evil character from Everwood who ruined season 2 for me. (No, I will not get over that).

Anyway, very quick TV comments on shows I've watched in the past few weeks (Private Practice, Pushing Daisies, Prison Break, Grey's, FNL, Ugly Betty, Supernatural, Smallville). I'm going to try and keep it to 1 or 2 sentences because I'm feeling lazy. :/ Come see after the jump!

Private Practice, 1.02 - 1.04
It's getting better. But the Addison/Pete "sexual tension" is waaayyy too forced.

Pushing Daisies, 2.01 & 2.02
Thumbs up -- it's fun, it's quirky, and it's unique. But I like Ned and Chuck so much that I wonder if I'll tire of the fact that they can't touch... or kiss... or anything, really.

Prison Break, 3.04
We're totally breaking up. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID. For more info, check out this interview with the show's producer. I think Chuck is actually in the same time slot so there. :P

Grey's Anatomy, 4.01 & 4.02
I still can't stand George/Izzie. And I'm slowly starting to lose interest in Derek/Meredith. Ugh, her "issues" buuuug me. But I guess I'm sticking around because it looks like Joshua Jackson is joining the cast for a few episodes. Mmm, Pacey. :D

Ok, I'm getting tired so I'm just going to say that Friday Night Lights, Ugly Betty, and Supernatural are all amazing, as usual. And Smallville is not. I can't stand Kara and OMG, we're back to the Clark/Lana storyline. Of course. Yet I can't seem to stop watching...

I'm out! Hehehe. I must be delirious.

October 17, 2007

Ahhh, I left work at a reasonable hour today so I finally have time to sit down and blog. I know it's halfway to the weekend already but I never got the chance to blog about what I did last week on my birthday! :)

Here's a very quick recap --

Wednesday
Diesel got neutered. Poor little guy. He was so sad when we took him home from the vet. Look:

He had to wear that "Elizabethan collar" so that he wouldn't lick his wounds. :(

In other Diesel news, he has learned to roll over! Awww.

Thursday
BIRTHDAY! I didn't want to go to work (I mean, it's my DAY!) but my managers brought me a yummy raspberry cake and presents and I got to leave early, so that made up for it. :D I went home to rest before dinner and whaddya know, the fire alarm in my apartment building goes off and I had to stand outside in my sweats. ARGH. (I think one of our neighbors burned their dinner and that set it off). When the fire department finally turned the alarm off, Rob and I dropped Diesel back at home and went to a yummy Vietnamese place for dinner. Mmm. And of course, I had the famous cupcakes for dessert. Finally at around midnight, Riz (my cousin) rolled into town. YAY.

Friday
Riz and I spent the day walking around downtown San Francisco in the pouring rain (!) to visit a couple of bridal salons. She's the bestest. :D First we hit Bella Bridesmaid where I had her try on TONS of dresses. Mwahahaha. We picked some definite contenders that I'll share here on the blog once I get the chance to take my other bridesmaids to see them as well. I also dragged Riz to the Bridal Galleria to visit the 2 Monique Lhuillier dresses that I'm considering for myself. (I don't think I've posted any updates to the dress search so I'll have to do that when I get closer to making a decision -- guh, it's so HARD!). She liked both dresses so that didn't help my indecisiveness at all. :/

The rest of the weekend was really low key. Riz and I didn't have any other specific plans... we did some shopping, went to IKEA, ate lots of filipino food, sat around in front of the TV. It was so much fun. I haven't spent that much time with her since Christmas so it felt great to catch up.

Finally, I have to thank Alie SO MUCH for the thoughtful birthday present... she sent me the Rubber Stamper's Bible from my Amazon wishlist. It was a wonderful surprise -- THANKS again!

I have to write up a TV post soon!

October 15, 2007

Just briefly popping in to say THANK YOU to all of you for the birthday wishes. You have no idea how happy they made me. :)

I had a fantabulous birthday weekend with my cousin lounging around and stuffing myself silly. And yes, I got my birthday cupcakes! Chocolate and vanilla with the yummiest buttercream frosting. Mmmm.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to another hellish week at work so hopefully I'll get the chance to post a real weekend update once it's all over...

October 11, 2007

YAY! It's officially my BERF-DAY!

It's kinda ridiculous how excited I get about my birthday. I mean, I'm 28! It's pretty much past the point of celebrating, don't you think? :D

So it's off to bed and another fun day at work (*note the sarcasm*)...

October 6, 2007

Work is still sucking (too many deadlines this month!) but I have to focus on the positive and there's actually good stuff for me to look forward to...

1. 3-day weekend. Thank goodness for Columbus Day! Though I think I'll probably be doing a little work from home anyway. There's too many things going on that I really can't afford to be swamped when I get back to the office on Tuesday.
2. My birthday is on Thursday! WOOT. The big 2-8. Damn, I'm old. :/ I told Rob I want cupcakes from Tea Cake Bakeshop. Hopefully he remembers. Mmmm. I'm salivating just thinking about it.
3. My cousin is visiting for my birthday. And I'm taking next Friday off of work so we can hang out in the city. I'm dragging her to a couple of bridal salons. Hey, she's my Maid of Honor! She has to help me with wedding stuff! I'm sure she's looking forward to that, hehehe.

In other news, I have decided to take up scrapbooking. I have no idea where the heck the inclination came from but there you go. I even went out and bought some patterned paper, cardstock, stickers, and a paper trimmer today. I honestly don't have a creative/artistic bone in my body so this is going to be interesting. :D

I just downloaded Britney's single from iTunes. I didn't like it when I first heard it but it's totally grown on me. You should download it too!
