May 28, 2008 I got bored. So I created a WeeMee!
Me in Paris wearing a comfortable hoodie and jeans and sipping on coffee. Ahhh, so perfect. Posted by Kel at 10:58 PM | Comments (1) May 27, 2008 I had my first bridal gown fitting today. It's even more beautiful than I remember... the beading, the neckline, the back of the dress... SQUEE. Today was all about the alterations -- the dress has to be shortened, the 10 point bustle sewn in (I'm going to need some serious help from my bridesmaids on this one), and the bodice taken in a little (I had no idea I lost a few inches in this area but YAY). Sadly, I still look like a freaking linebacker thanks to my ginormous arms. *sigh* One thing I had to bring to the fitting were my shoes. Since I splurged on my dress, I didn't even think about purchasing designer shoes. I just wanted a pair that were silver, comfortable, and affordable. I found a few pairs at Nordstrom that would do the trick. One night, a few months back, I happened to show them to Rob and he casually mentioned that he had been planning to buy me a pair of Jimmy Choos or Manolos for the wedding. UMMM. !!! YES PLEASE. So of course, I was on a mission and found this gorgeous pair...
Diesel posing with THE BOX!
HELLO LOVER. GUH. I am so spoiled. Posted by Kel at 10:56 PM | Comments (3) It seems like everyone's doing it... [Edited to move the Twitter box to the left.] Posted by Kel at 12:06 AM | Comments (1) May 21, 2008 The 2 W's have taken over my life... Work and the Wedding. Work has been absolutely crazy lately. It's the dreaded "planning" season, which means looooooong days. SUCKS to be me. But our team just got approval to hire an Assistant so that'll definitely help whenever we find the time to actually recruit and interview candidates. :/ I really, really, really want my hours to be "normal." But the craziness doesn't stop at work. Oh no. I get home and go into Wedding mode. Rob and I spent the past 2 weeks working on getting all our invitations out the door. We finally got them all mailed out over the weekend. YAY! Once I get confirmation that our out of state guests have received theirs, I'll share pics! Now I've moved on to other projects -- like designing the programs and menus, figuring out if I can handle putting together a slideshow to play at the reception or not, selecting our ceremony music, etc etc etc. OMG. Not going to think about ALL THAT STUFF right now. Anyway, this past Saturday I went to my very first Bridal Shower for my good friend Shirley. Despite the heat, it was a really fun-filled day. Her bridesmaids did a great job coordinating everything. We all met at Shirley's place for breakfast and introductions, then we went to Napa for massages (mmm, so nice), and finally ended up at V. Sattui winery for food, games, and gifts! Shirls, I can't wait for your wedding -- 1 more month! :D In TV news, I have not been keeping up with any current shows, except for Lost. It's too hard. I did manage to get caught up with Gossip Girl (minus the season finale) while I was working on the invitations. But I have tons of One Tree Hill, Brothers and Sisters, Smallville, Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy episodes saved on the Tivo. I don't know guys. It looks like I might have to start deleting these. Smallville will probably be the first to go. Too bad I'll probably have even more TV piling up because I was reading the new show descriptions from the recent Upfronts and I'm totally eyeing the new 90210 series that the CW picked up (WHAT? I grew up with 90210!) and OF COURSE, the new JJ Abrams show, Fringe, that Joshua Jackson is starring in. The show doesn't really look *that* appealing but whatever, PACEY!!! :D I'm delirious and it's past my bedtime. Posted by Kel at 11:46 PM | Comments (3) May 15, 2008 There is a freaking heat wave here in the Bay Area. The one day I would have preferred to stay in my nice air-conditioned office, I had to run out and do errands at the post office. UGH. It was about 90 degrees in the city today. It's almost midnight now and it is STILL sweltering. YUCK. I just realized that I forgot to mention a couple of recent milestones... On April 12th, Rob and I celebrated our 9th anniversary. Can you believe he's put up with me for that long? :D And then this past Monday, on May 12th, we celebrated our "engagement-versary." (I don't know what else to call it!) :D Time has flown by so quickly. It seriously feels like I just got engaged yesterday. And now there's only 86 days until the wedding. (!!!) I feel really lucky that I have Rob in my life. He understands and loves me despite all my faults (see below entry for evidence). We share the same hopes for the future. We have interests that overlap (TV!) but we have our own things as well. But best of all, Rob can look at me and smile and I can still feel the butterflies. (Points for you if you get the reference :P). < / end sappiness> So. Iron Man was AWESOME. I totally want to go see it again (possible spoilers)... Robert Downey, Jr. is, without a doubt, the best part of the movie. I've always liked him (he's so incredibly charming) but now I think I have a full-fledged crush. Just the way he can convey so much with a small look or gesture. And his delivery of all the one-liners is brilliant. Some of my favorite scenes/quotes: -- The stripper pole on Tony's plane. BWAHAHA. So perfect. And yes, Rob and I did stay until the end of the credits for the teaser scene. Totally a set up for the sequel. YAY. Such a good way to get the summer blockbuster season started. And there's so many more movies to look forward to! I am definitely going to try and catch... Chronicles of Narnia: Prince of Caspian Can't wait. Posted by Kel at 11:56 PM | Comments (5) May 13, 2008 Had a very "meh" weekend. Saturday was all screwy. Here's the short version of the story... Had plans to see Ironman with friends. Yeah. I'm not kidding. Not my finest hour. Clearly I have issues... Issue #1 Issue #2 This is obviously bothering me because I'm sitting here at work thinking about it. But I'm not sure what I can do other than acknowledge it and try to be better when another situation arises... GUH. ANYWAY. We did finally go and see Ironman but I'll have to blog about that next time... gotta do some work now. Posted by Kel at 10:29 AM | Comments (5) May 6, 2008 I knew I would fail at the Week in the Life meme... and only after 4 days! I've actually had a lot of fun doing it but yesterday and today were such snoozefests. I'm at work all day and there's really nothing of interest to photograph during most of my waking hours (I haven't even gone out to lunch so far this week). Since I've already broken the rules by commenting on the photos, I'm going to see how the next few days go and attempt to get to 7 days anyway... :D I do have to share 1 photo from today, though -- Diesel's cousin Smush is staying with us through the weekend because Rob's brother and sister-in-law are on a trip to the East Coast. He came over tonight. Look at the cousins!
Posted by Kel at 10:38 PM | Comments (1) May 5, 2008 Ugh, my allergies were acting up last night so I didn't feel like blogging my pictures. So now I'm a day behind. Oops. :P *These are pictures from Sunday.
11:05 am - Sunday Brunch One of our favorite things to do on the weekends is to go over to 4th Street in Berkeley. We decided to go earlier in the day and start off with a yummy breakfast at Tacubaya. Chilaquiles for me and Chorizo and eggs for Rob.
11:28 am - Scrap Happy After breakfast we went over to the best scrapbook store EVER -- Scrapbook Territory. You'll see why in the next picture.
11:37 am - Diesel's Scrappy Friends Diesel has friends! The owner, Diane, has 2 dogs that hang out at the store -- Wilbur is the huge golden retriever (I think) and Dolce is the chihuahua. They like to say Hi to him when he comes in. :D
11:43 am - Posing in the Aisles Hehe. Rob and Diesel are waiting patiently as I take my time going through each aisle to see if there's anything new. Can you tell Rob is so excited to be in a scrapbook store?
11:45 am - Til Next Time Saying Bye to his buddies...
11:58 am - Surrounded By Treats Diesel's favorite store at 4th Street is George -- this is where we got his yummy birthday cookie. We can't help but pick up treats for him when we're here. (Sorry for the shot of Rob's feet -- I told you I'm not a good photographer).
12:05 pm - Paper Heaven I had to pick up some thank you cards. Like I need a reason to go to Paper Source.
12:12 pm - Diesel Loves Paper Source Too! I couldn't help it. I bet Rob just loves that I make him pose for these pictures.
12:17 pm - Mmm... Ice Cream A day at 4th Street is not complete without a trip to Sketch. Mmm. I had the Plain Yogurt (my favorite) and Rob had coffee (sooo good). And that was pretty much my Sunday. I spent the rest of the day in bed because of my stupid allergies. :/ Too bad... I really wanted to check out Iron Man. Maybe next weekend... Posted by Kel at 10:42 PM | Comments (2) May 3, 2008 Happy National Scrapbooking Day! :D I haven't scrapped in forever. I just haven't really thought about it in awhile. :( Anyway, the photo meme continued... Note: I am by no means a photographer so please excuse the amateur pics. :D You can click each image for bigger! I actually started my day at about 10:30 am when I went to the gym across the street. I brought the camera with me so I could take a picture during my walk over. As soon as I turned on the camera, though, I realized that I left the memory card at home. Doh! That's why the pictures start so late in the day.
01:29 pm - Walking to Subway Rob and I wanted Subway for lunch and since it's just a short walk away, we decided to take the little munchkin along with us.
04:24 pm - One Dollar Churro We had to go to Costco to pick up some odds and ends and of course, I could not leave without a ONE DOLLAR CHURRO. Yummy. It was really windy and I wasn't wearing any makeup so please excuse my crazy face. :D
04:50 pm - The Search Continues I am still looking for yoga socks so we headed over to Sports Authority to see if they carry them. Nope. Rob did browse around the shoe section so the trip wasn't a complete waste.
11:31 pm - Assembling the Invitations We spent the rest of our night tackling the invitations. I made little tags with our guests' names on them that I'm going to tie onto the envelope. They're going to be so pretty! Only 4 pictures today -- sorry! I actually had more of the invitation process but since some of our guests actually read my blog, I decided to wait and post them after the invitations have been mailed. I don't want to give away *too* much. :D Posted by Kel at 11:40 PM | Comments (2) May 2, 2008 Ugh, I totally forgot to Tivo yesterday's Oprah show with the Sex and the City girls. Massive FAIL to me. :( Hopefully I can find it on YouTube. Anyway, this meme is turning out to be so much fun! You can click each image for bigger!
07:17 am - Diesel in the Morning Diesel and I wake up at the same time in the mornings. He likes to follow me around as I get ready for my day.
07:27 am - Diesel Loves to Eat One of the first things I do in the morning is feed the little guy. He scarfs his food down right away.
09:17 am - Friday Means Starbucks I've been really good lately at limiting my trips to Starbucks to Fridays only. I save a little money and it makes me look forward to Fridays more than I already do.
10:31 am - Mmm... Strawberries Breakfast today was a Tall nonfat peppermint mocha and a huge bowl of strawberries that I bought at the Farmers Market yesterday. Sooo good.
05:04 pm - Search for Socks I need some really good pairs of sports socks for a yoga/pilates-type class I've been taking lately. You know, the kind with "grips" at the bottom to help with slipping. I went to the mecca (aka Lululemon) but unfortunately, they only had really obnoxious ones (bright colors and stripes). Oh well.
05:21 pm - I Love Vera Wang My Macy's bridal registry consultant sent me a Friends and Family coupon for this weekend so I headed over there to buy the toasting flutes and cake knife/server set that Rob and I will be using at the wedding. We picked out the popular Vera Wang 'Love Knots' pieces -- so pretty! I wasn't planning on getting them until closer to the wedding (there's no space for all this stuff!) but I couldn't pass up purchasing them at a discount.
06:47 pm - Sleeping Beauty When I got home, Rob was taking a nap. So of course, I changed into my PJ's and also enjoyed a quick "cat nap" before dinner. :D
09:28 pm - They're Here! Our invitations arrived today! So exciting. I'll show some sneak peeks of them in the next few days since we'll probably be spending most of the weekend getting them ready to be mailed out. YAY. No pictures from the middle part of the day because 1) there was nothing going on at work and 2) I had a business lunch and even though we had the most amazing dessert platter, I did not feel comfortable busting out the camera to take pics. :P Have a great weekend everyone! Posted by Kel at 11:23 PM | Comments (2) May 1, 2008 I did it! I carried the camera around with me today so here goes... Oh, and I know I'm totally breaking the rules but I want to elaborate on these pics. I'm such a rule-breaker!
09:16 am - Morning Coffee! I only have "real" coffee once a week and I always get it from McDonald's. I get a lot of grief from my co-workers. Hey, I like it! Anyway, this is the left side of my desk at work -- you can see the framed photo of Rob and me from college, my rolodex, and my iPod speakers.
01:13 pm - Weekly Farmers Market at Crocker Galleria I bought some big and juicy strawberries!
01:28 pm - Lunch at My Desk (As Per Usual) Lunch was a yummy yummy Chicken Tandoori Wrap from Chaat Cafe and a generic coke from our community kitchen.
05:50 pm - First Day of the Month Turned the page on my adorable shih-tzu calendar. This is the right side of my desk -- or what I call the "toy" section. Note my stuffed bear and Nemo and my Star Wars figurines. I'm such a kid. :D
09:20 pm - "Healthy Dinner" McDonald's for dinner. Not exactly what I should be eating after a really good workout. Oh, well. The vanilla cone was worth it. :P
09:45 pm - Game Time Ever since we picked up Mario Kart on Monday, we've been playing daily. SO MUCH FUN. Ok, off to watch Lost! Posted by Kel at 10:51 PM | Comments (3) |
