As the wedding gets closer and closer (44 days!), my workload is getting bigger and bigger. WHY.

Seriously, time to blog (or even THINK about blogging) has been scarce, to say the least. But I had to make time to post some fun pics from my weekend! My high school/college roomie Shirley got married at a beautiful ceremony in Sausalito.

The touching ceremony was full of very personal details.

Cupcakes!

Simpsons-themed table numbers. Rob and I sat at the Principal Skinner table. HEE.

The bride and me! Doesn't she look gorgeous?

Rob and I took advantage of the photobooth at the reception. So fun! We're getting one for our wedding too. ;)

The newlyweds are now on their way to Taiwan for a second reception -- congrats guys! I feel so lucky to have been a part of your day. *hugs*

I have one more day of work this week and then it's off to LA for a 3-day weekend and my bridal shower! Hope everyone has a good weekend. :)

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!

Our FABULOUS photographers Ray and Erwin of Apertura have blogged some of the photos from our engagement session.

OMG. I LOVE THEM. I kinda have funny expressions in some of them but the angles of the shots, the colors, the light... aaahhhh, so pretty.

Here's a teaser...

Now go HERE to see the rest.

SO EXCITING!

Oh Lakers. You broke Rob's heart. :( Boo on you.

I sent one of our extra invitations to "Mickey and Minnie Mouse" and look what we got from them! HEE.

I also sent an invitation to the Governor so we'll see if he sends us anything. :P

Anyway, RSVPs for the wedding are steadily rolling in so I think it's time to share my beloved invitations.

As much as I wanted to "DIY" the invitations, I didn't feel 100% comfortable enough with my Illustrator/PhotoShop skills to take on such a big task. I feel like invitations set the tone for a wedding and I wanted them to be perfect. Without breaking the bank. So I worked with stationery designer Prim and Pixie on the graphics, wording, and execution (from the pocketfolder to the belly band). And then Rob and I gave them just a bit more "oomph" by adding tags for the guests' names and wrapping everything in a handy dandy mailer box.

PICS! Click for bigger.

Some of the boxes wrapped, labeled, and waiting to be mailed out. If you look closely, you'll see that we used Disney and Marvel Superhero stamps! We also had some Star Wars stamps but I don't have any pictures of those boxes. I love little details like this.

The open box. Instead of writing our guests' names on the envelope, we made little tags instead. Rob was in charge of punching them out and hammering the eyelet into the top. He's the best.

The pocketfolder held closed by a personalized belly band. What you can't see in these pics is that all the paper has a metallic sheen to it. So sparkly and pretty.

And finally, the invitation and inserts. I love how everything has its place. SQUEE. The whole package makes me so happy.

I hope our guests enjoyed receiving them as much as we had fun putting them together. :D

June 16, 2008

So I managed to have a good weekend despite the unexpected hack job. (GRRR).

I finally went to see the Sex and the City movie. WOO HOO! It totally made my weekend. I'll post my thoughts after the cut.

I've also been getting through some movies on our Netflix queue. Let's see if I can write quick 2-3 sentence reviews.

Atonement
Enjoyed it (mostly because I loved the romance between Robbie and Cecilia) but it was depressing. And I'm actually still mad at Briony. Can't help it.

27 Dresses
I'm in the throes of wedding planning so of course, I thought this was a cute movie. Jane could have been a really sad, sad character but Katherine Heigl did an amazing job at giving her real depth. And she totally pulled off the scene where she tries on every single one of those 27 horrifying bridesmaid dresses. Plus, Judy Greer! I love her.

National Treasure 2
Cheesy (and I'm sure terribly historically inaccurate) but so much FUN! I totally want to see the first one now.

Juno
I think I might have bought in to the hype cause I liked the movie but wasn't WOW-ed by it. I hate when that happens.

August Rush
Again, I liked this movie (as you can probably tell, I am very easy to please when it comes to movies) but I also felt like it was too... something. I can't quite put my finger on it. Too sentimental maybe? Almost like it was trying a tad too hard to win over the audience. Anyway, Keri Russell as Lyla really sold this movie for me (and it didn't hurt that there was eye candy in the form of Jonathan Rhys Meyers). I think Evan (Freddie Highmore) was supposed to be the heart of this story but I found it in Lyla.

Ok, now for some Sex and the City thoughts (spoilery! beware!)...

I loved the movie. I really, really did. I thought the progression of the 4 characters since the show's finale made sense and the resolution at the end of the movie was very satisfying.

My favorite character has always been Charlotte (I relate to her the most) and she was positively amazing here. I loved when she screamed "No!" at Big when he tried to approach Carrie after leaving her at the altar. I loved her poop-y incident in Mexico (BWAH!). And I loved that she was finally able to get pregnant. There are other moments too but those stand out for me.

I have to admit that I'm a Carrie/Big fan so seeing Carrie hurt killed me. OMG, that scene in Mexico when she's looking at herself in the mirror... so painful to watch. I don't really know what to say about the non-wedding. I know that things spiraled out of control but I don't understand it. And maybe I'm not supposed to. Things happen in life that you don't always understand; but you have to accept it, forgive, and move on. Carrie was able to do that. (And she got her beautiful blue Manolos back to top it off!)

Miranda and Samantha's storylines also felt right. Though a part of me wishes that Samantha didn't have to break up with Smith. I really liked him.

All in all, I loved it. And I can't wait to get it on DVD. :D

Testing, testing...

UGH. Hackers strike again.

So I spent a good part of the day reinstalling Movable Type and importing my old entries. WHAT A PAIN. Luckily I'm pretty diligent about backing up my files so I only lost the last entry... Boo. I'll probably rewrite parts of it later cause I thought it was a good post!

Anyway, please excuse the mess around here... there's a lot of broken links and images. I'll get around to fixing them soon. I hope.

June 2, 2008

Been a busy bee lately.

My cousin Rizza (aka Maid of Honor) was in town for the weekend to help with a wedding project. Rob and I wanted to incorporate our alma mater, UC Berkeley, into our wedding so we decided to name our reception tables after campus buildings. And we thought we would go the extra mile and attempt to get our photos taken in front of them. (We're dorks, I know). I asked for Riz's help with this because she's a photographer and it was an excuse to get her to come visit me. :D

So on Saturday, we spent 4 hours walking all over campus posing like crazy people in front of over 25 buildings (we won't really have that many tables -- I wanted to have more options just in case). Riz has to go through all the photos and process our selections but I thought I would share a random one we took...

These cute bears are on the North side of campus. Awww.

It was a really tiring day but good practice for our engagement photo shoot this coming Sunday. FUN!
