September 27, 2008 YAYAYAY. Our FABULOUS wedding photographers posted a slideshow of some of our wedding photos on their blog... if you have a few minutes, check it out here. I have watched it so many times, it's ridiculous. It also reminds me that once I get the digital proofs in my grubby little hands, I want to do a kind of "look back" series of blog entries as a way to share the details with all of you and also for me to relive the day all over again (humor me). :D But first! I don't think I ever mentioned one of THE BEST things we had at our wedding reception -- a photobooth. It's kind of a "trend" at weddings nowadays and at first I didn't think we could afford it but Rob really wanted it... and since it was really the only thing he had an opinion on, we made it work. And I'm so glad we did. It was SO FUN -- the booth takes 4 pictures and prints out 2 copies... so we asked that guests keep 1 copy for themselves and then insert the other into an album and write us a quick little note. It was a hit! We have such an amazing memento that was put together for us by our guests. I thought I'd share the ones of Rob and me (click for bigger)...
SO FUN. I have to thank Cheesy Photobooths for being so awesome to work with. They answered all my logistical questions quickly and offered their design services for the custom banner (I ended up making it myself). And the attendant on the day of our wedding totally ROCKED. We had some... uh, rowdy (read: drunk) guests and when the booth tipped over TWICE, he quickly fixed it and Rob and I were none the wiser. I HIGHLY recommend them. In other news, I listened to Britney's new single Womanizer on BritneySpears.com. I pretty much love it. YAY. Posted by Kel at 08:46 PM | Comments (6) September 23, 2008 I watched Privileged tonight and really, really liked it! Two big thumbs up. I'm definitely tuning in again next week. I just recently discovered an awesome (AWESOME!) Heroes blog written by one of the show's producers/directors, Greg Beeman. He blogs after most episodes and reveals some behind the scenes thoughts and scoop. So fun. Read it here. Anyway, I watched the season 3 premiere last night and my first thought was... WHAT?!? Beware spoilers.
My thoughts by characters/storylines... First, Mohinder needs to go away. He bothers me. What did he think was going to happen when he shot himself up?!? I mean, come on. He's supposed to be a smart guy, right? I love Hiro and Ando but I wish they weren't isolated from the rest of the cast. Again. Although the new tension between them gives their storyline an interesting twist. (Sidenote: James Kyson Lee is a cutie). Don't like Speedy girl, though (I wasn't compelled enough to look up her name). She's too cutesy/perky for me. I hope they're not setting her and Hiro up for romance. I'm still mourning over Charlie. *sniff* FuturePeter sucks. He puts his past self into a criminal's body? And he tries to kill his own brother? Who does that?!? I didn't like Peter last season and it doesn't look like that's going to change. Weevil! And Veronica! Together again. Aahhhh (hehe, props to Robyn for loving their reunion too!). I kinda wish they had the chance to have real dialogue. Oh, well. At least Elle got to kick some Sylar butt! Wait, does this mean she isn't sticking around? Elle's not a very likable character but Kristen Bell totally makes her sympathetic. Love that K-Bell. Claire and Sylar's scenes gave me the creeps. I had to look away when Sylar was picking at her brain. EWWW. Tracey is intriguing to me and I'm excited to see that she'll (probably) be interacting with Nathan. I particularly loved this exchange they shared: Almost forgot about Parkman. I love Greg Grunberg (and always will) but all his scenes made me sleeeeepy. Finally, Sylar is Angela Petrelli's son? For real? Or is that a fake-out? Whoa. I'll say it again. WHOA. All in all, I thought it was a pretty solid return even though I didn't LOVE it. Kinda weird. How about all of you? Posted by Kel at 10:29 PM | Comments (4) September 20, 2008 Is it sad that I still read wedding blogs? I can't help it. Rob's in Cabo for a bachelor party this weekend so Diesel and I are on our own for the weekend. Love it because I can take over the TV and watch The Hills! And my other guilty pleasure shows (possible spoilers?)... One Tree Hill I *am* enjoying Lucas and Peyton -- I can't explain it. I love them together. Can they just be happy for once? I also love anything and everything involving Haley, Nathan, and Jamie. They're so awesome. Hmm. I still (begrudgingly) love this show. Entourage, Season 4 Ok, I'm off to watch this past week's episode of 90210 (yes, I'm still watching... for now). Have a great weekend everyone! PS - A co-worker let me borrow Eclipse. I can keep reading the series without paying a dime. Yay. :D Posted by Kel at 11:44 PM | Comments (3) September 16, 2008 I bought Rob an iPhone for his belated birthday present and now I am SO. JEALOUS. I want one too (whine, whine). Sadly AT&T won't let me get one until November (stupid contract). Anyway, I finished New Moon over the weekend and I liked it about the same as Twilight. Emma hit the nail on the head in her comment to my previous entry -- it's been so hard to get through this series because the writing isn't so great. :( This was definitely more noticeable in New Moon. But I did understand Bella more in this second installment. Which is an improvement. Unfortunately, I still don't really like her. I found her to be reckless and selfish. And it completely bothers me that she's so nonchalant about becoming a vampire. Cause I don't feel like she's taking it seriously or that she's really weighed the pros and cons. Interestingly, I liked Edward much more in this book -- maybe because compared to Bella, he was like the voice of reason. I also really liked learning more about Jacob (he might just be my favorite character) though I still don't understand why the vampires and the werewolves are enemies. Did I miss something? I've gotten this far so I want to read the rest of the series... but I'll have to find a generous friend to loan Eclipse and Breaking Dawn to me. Only the hardcovers are available and I'm CHEAP. Anyone? :P Posted by Kel at 09:04 PM | Comments (4) September 10, 2008 Wow, blogging 3 days in a row. Go me! Gosh, I haven't done a book update in ages. I swear I've been reading! So I got sucked into the Twilight series. People at work kept talking about it and I felt out of the loop. :P I read the first book when I got back from Kaua'i so it's been a good 2+ weeks since I finished it and I honestly haven't felt inspired to blog about it. I think that says something. I liked it... but didn't love it. And I wanted to. I really did. Edward and Bella's relationship was sweet but I think it was too much, too soon. Their lives started to revolve around each other so quickly and I didn't even feel like I had a handle on who they are individually. It's hard to root for a couple when you don't have any feelings for either of them outside of that relationship. The action at the end kept me reading, though, and I was sufficiently intrigued enough to purchase New Moon (which I haven't started yet). I might even try to watch the movie (if I can find anyone who wants to go)! I don't follow Twilight fandom but it seems like people either love or hate Robert Pattinson's casting as Edward. While he'll always be Cedric Diggory to me (HP!), I can totally see him as a vampire as well. Should be interesting. After Twilight, I read Eat Pray Love. Erm, how do I explain my thoughts? I liked it and didn't like it at the same time. Really. It took me awhile to get through the first 25 pages or so because I found Liz to be slightly unlikable -- I know she went through a huge, emotional and messy divorce but there were times when she was crying non-stop that I wanted to reach out through the pages, shake her, and tell her to snap out of it. And sometimes her journey came across as self-absorbed and arrogant instead of reflective and insightful. I don't know. Maybe I'm just too young. Or maybe I haven't lived enough so I don't "get" it. Fortunately, she has a really fun (and funny), easy writing style that made the book easy to read. And I'm a sucker for a book about travel (I would LOVE to be able to take a year off and travel the world -- so jealous). I just wish the ending wasn't so neatly packaged. I also read The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares. It totally sounded like a book I would enjoy... a story about sisters and the boy they grew up with at their summer house... but sadly, the characters drove me nuts. I was so frustrated and annoyed by their choices, their lack of communication, their passiveness. Ack. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series is far better than this book. :/ I've read other chick-lit books but they're more the forgettable kind. Not worth highlighting here. Hop over to GoodReads to see what else I've been reading. I have no idea how to direct link to my profile (is that even possible?) so let me know if you're on there and be my friend! Posted by Kel at 10:35 PM | Comments (7) September 9, 2008 Happy Month-iversary to Rob and me! Time has flown by WAY too quickly and we haven't even started our Thank You cards. Eeeek. I watched Fringe tonight. First, I have to admit that I would watch this show for Joshua Jackson alone. I HAVE NO SHAME. (Pacey and Joey for life!) So I liked the show. I think it has potential (beware spoilers)... And I'm intrigued enough by the characters (particularly Agent Scott, Broyles, and Walter Bishop), The Pattern, Massive Dynamics, etc to keep watching. Plus, none of the science makes sense to me (I never did well in any of my science classes in school) so I don't even have to suspend belief to watch this show... cause it all sounds plausible to me! I'm lame, I know. I'm not quite sold on Anna Torv as Olivia yet (she seemed a little wooden)... but I thought Lance Reddick (Broyles) and John Noble (Walter Bishop) were pretty awesome. It was SO GREAT to have Josh back on TV again but I wish his character wasn't so sarcastic. He had a lot of one-liners that, I think, were supposed to be funny but ended up being distracting. A lot of his dialogue seemed out of place. :/ But it's just the pilot so I'm hoping the writers will be more comfortable with the characters and the storylines and hit their stride in the next few episodes. The last scene was my absolute favorite... Woohoo. My first official new show of the season! Feels so good. Posted by Kel at 11:53 PM | Comments (2) September 8, 2008 YES! Thanks to my friend Ruby I found out that there is indeed a Fall TV Preview issue of Entertainment Weekly this year. As soon as the mail arrived at work on Friday, I pounced. I checked through our mail bins (we get multiple copies of every single magazine out there) and found one. It had Chuck/Blair on the cover too. SCORE. Although, yes, I would have been happy with Dan/Serena as I like them too. :D I read through the whole thing and of course, I am planning on watching too many shows. Here's my list with premiere dates/times for my reference: Mondays: Tuesdays: Wednesdays: Fridays: Sundays: Aaaahhh, so many shows, so little time. I LOVE IT. Posted by Kel at 10:40 PM | Comments (4) September 3, 2008 First, I want to wish my friend Ricardo a Happy Belated Birthday! He's one of my few real-life guy friends who actually reads this thing so I had to give him a shout-out (this does not sound right coming from me). :D Anyway, had a very lazy 4-day weekend. My back hurt (have no idea why - I haven't been to the gym since before the wedding) so I lay in bed and watched a lot of CSI. (What's new, right?) Is it just me or did Entertainment Weekly not have their annual Fall TV preview issue this year? I LOVE that issue. It's like my new TV season bible. Seriously. I always read it from cover to cover trying to figure out my TV schedule for the new year. It never arrived and all of a sudden the season started this past Monday. I was not prepared. I haven't watched Gossip Girl or One Tree Hill yet but I did catch the new 90210 (terrible) and Prison Break (interesting) so of course I have a few comments (beware of spoilers). 90210 I was not feeling Annie and Dixon, aka the new Brenda and Brandon. Dixon is tolerable. Annie is incredibly annoying. I don't know if Shenae Grimes always acts like that but she was too... over the top. She needed to tone it down. A lot. Just like the Grandma. I didn't like her at all. The parents are okay (Rob Estes is still pretty cute but why oh why did they have to give his character that ridiculous adoption storyline with his old girlfriend -- ugh). I'm still undecided on Naomi, Adrianna and Ethan (he seems like a decent guy and I did like his interaction with Annie) but I really enjoyed Navid and Silver (Kelly and David's sister!). I'll probably check out a few more episodes but I don't know... I loved the original show and this new version just doesn't have the same appeal to me so far. Prison Break I also loved the Michael and Sara reunion. But you probably already knew that. :D They were just the right balance of happy, relieved, anxious, hesitant. Mmm. A couple of laugh out loud moments... Anyway, I'm back on board. WOOT. Posted by Kel at 09:19 PM | Comments (5) |
