October 27, 2008 I wrote this entry LAST Monday. I just never finished it. And since I was home sick today (fever, so fun), I thought I would finally get it posted. Monday night is, without a doubt, my favorite night of TV. Gossip Girl. One Tree Hill. Chuck. Heroes. Well, ok. Heroes really isn't so great anymore but I still like to know what's going on. I'm an episode behind on GG and OTH but I'm all caught up with the other two so here I go with the comments (beware spoilers). Chuck -- Casey as a DJ at the reunion. Oh, oh, AND he was dancing/clapping to MMMBop. OMG, that was fantastic. -- Chuck and Casey teaming up with Chuck as the bad cop (MAD DOG!!!) and Casey as the good cop. -- Sarah and Heather's fight scene. In the shower no less. Total pandering to the male demo but I still thought it was classic. Playing Smack My Bitch Up during that scene was inspired. Hee. -- Actually, ALL the music on this show is perfectly chosen. I mean, they played Backstreet Boys and the Dawson's Creek theme song during the reunion! Those are SO 1998! (I just realized this makes me a year older than Sarah. Huh.) -- Loved this quote by Chuck to Heather... "Of all the semi-tart Asian yogurt places in LA, you walked into this one..." I'm totally paraphrasing but that made me LOL. -- This didn't happen in the last episode but I love the idea of Sarah as a yogurt store employee (at the Orange Orange!). Yogurt shops are so trendy right now; that was a perfect touch now that the Wienerlicious is no more. The only change I want to make to the show is to incorporate the Buy More storylines into the main plot somehow. I like most of the Buy More characters (well, I like Lester, Jeff, and Anna -- not Morgan so much) and want to see them in something other than the crazy "B-plots." I don't know how that would really be possible, though. -- Claire, once my favorite Hero, kinda sucks now. I can't stand her bad attitude. Though I have to admit that in the last episode, she was pretty bad-ass. -- Hiro totally aggravates me with his terrible decisions and bad judgment. I know that he believes that he's supposed to be the one "saving the world" but now he just comes off as self-centered. AND he killed Ando. That is unforgivable. F to Hiro. Although I did like when he called the new character "Mister African Isaac." Cause it's so true. -- I can't stand Parkman and Daphne. And I want to like them so much (because I adore Greg Grunberg)! But Matt's storyline is a total snoozefest and Daphne still bothers me. I think it might be the actress. She only has 1 expression and she does that weird thing with her lips when she speaks. Totally annoying. -- Was not really a fan of Adam's but no more David Anders. :( -- I kinda like Sylar now. I thought the character overstayed his welcome past the first season but now that I sense a redemption arc, I'm on board. -- I'm loving Tracy and Nathan even though they're being severely underutilized right now. They are such a great hero-couple. -- Bring back Elle! There's definitely more that needs to be fixed to bring the show back to the awesomeness of season 1 -- the suggestions in this article from ew.com is a good start. Posted by Kel at 11:13 PM | Comments (3) October 24, 2008 I'm around. Just been tired lately so I haven't felt much like blogging. BUT. Something has brought me out of my blogging funk and that is... Oh, yes. I just came back from watching it. :D In the theatre. On opening day. With Rob. Look how much fun he had!
The picture is super blurry... I was rushing because Rob was yelling at me to hurry up. Oh well. You can still tell that he's standing with the huge HSM3 cut-out in the lobby of the movie theatre. :) Anyway. Back to the movie. I LOVED it. It was SO much fun. The musical numbers were huge productions -- they were bigger and brighter with dazzling choreography and lots of props and costumes to tease the eye. Spoilery thoughts. My biggest criticism of the movie is the plot. It was a TOTAL rehash of the first movie (Sharpay's scheming, Troy's conflict between theatre and basketball). I didn't really expect any mind-blowing storylines but they could have at least tried for some originality. OH! The 3 new characters that were introduced were all terrible. I don't know if it's been officially announced yet but I am SO not watching High School Musical 4 if these newbies are in it. Not that I'm in the target demographic anyway. Random stuff: What I LOVED! For the record, my favorite HSM movie is still the first. The third movie is a very close second. Argh, I can't wait until this comes out on DVD! For now, I'm downloading the soundtrack from iTunes. Posted by Kel at 11:28 PM | Comments (0) October 16, 2008 I get lazy when I'm sick. Hence the lack of blogging. I'm finally feeling better and now we're off to LA for a wedding this weekend. Pictures when I return! Hope everyone has a great weekend. Posted by Kel at 06:38 PM | Comments (0) October 11, 2008 YAY Birthday! Too bad I'm sick. I have a cold. And a runny nose. Not the greatest way to spend my birthday. Oh well. At least I have lots of CUPCAKES to make me feel better. :D
One of my managers made chocolate cupcakes with strawberry frosting for me. They were so yummy. We enjoyed these at work yesterday after an unexpected birthday lunch at One Market Restaurant.
Then I got home to find that Rob went to SPRINKLES! in Palo Alto to get my favorite red velvet cupcake along with some other flavors to try. SO YUM YUM YUMMY. Their Red Velvet is the BEST light chocolate cake with the most amazing cream cheese frosting. Black and White (dark chocolate cake with vanilla frosting) is a solid classic, Chocolate Marshmallow is a unique treat (dark chocolate cake with marshmallow cream topped with chocolate ganache), and the Strawberry (strawberry cake with strawberry frosting) just might be a new favorite. MMMM. (Don't worry -- Rob and I split these cupcakes. I admit I'm a piggy but I do exercise restraint sometimes).
Rob even picked up a couple of doggie cupcakes for Diesel -- carob and yogurt flavored. He totally went crazy over these.
Rob *also* surprised me with the metallic rose Nintendo DS. (Please excuse my crazy face and the laundry behind me -- how embarassing). The only game I have right now is Mario Kart and it's THE BEST.
Didn't do anything at all today since I wasn't feeling up to it but I managed to get myself together to have a low key birthday dinner at Santa Ramen, my favorite Japanese ramen house across the bay. Soup was a good choice for this little sicky.
Then we headed to San Carlos and the newest Bay Area Red Mango location. I know it's a trend but I seriously LOVE LOVE LOVE tart frozen yogurt. And Red Mango's yogurt is pretty awesome. It's nice and creamy with a really subtle tart flavor. I do wish it was slightly more tart than it was (like Pinkberry) but overall, it was excellent. Rob and I got our usual Original flavor yogurt with strawberries, captain crunch, and mochi toppings. It was a good day. Despire being sick and all. :) Random. I cannot send or receive text messages on my cell phone. UGH. I think it stopped working about 4 weeks ago when I went into the AT&T store and had my SIM card replaced. GREAT. I cannot wait to get on the phone and deal with AT&T on this. They are SO HELPFUL. Umm, NOT. Posted by Kel at 11:53 PM | Comments (5) October 7, 2008 I just downloaded Britney's new single Womanizer from iTunes. It's #1 right now. YAYAYAY. It's almost birthday time! AND I have a 3-day weekend to celebrate (thank you Christopher Columbus). I just have to get through the next few days of work... Speaking of birthdays, Disney is offering guests free admission to Disneyland or Walt Disney World on their birthday in 2009. You have to register here. WOOT. I AM SO THERE. I'm totally going to have a Disney-themed 30th birthday next year. (Maybe). I don't have anything else to blog about so Diesel wants to say Hi...
OH! Before I forget... to answer the questions from the previous entry -- Robyn, you win the award for most photobooth pics. You were in there a whopping 12 times! Rob, Uly, and I tied for second with 9. And Grantland was next with 6. :) Posted by Kel at 10:09 PM | Comments (5) October 1, 2008 UGH. Last Friday, I discovered that I made a HUGE mistake at work and even though I've already told my boss (the most fair and understanding boss EVER), the situation keeps running through my head causing me to second-guess myself and be totally paranoid about every little thing. It's such a mindf**k. ARGH. I need to think about positive things... First. It is now October, which means it's my birthday month. Woot. 10 more days til 29. Second. Rob, Diesel and I are heading to LA in 2 weeks for our friends' Eric and Amy's wedding. I'm taking the Friday off beforehand to have some extra time to spend with family. Third. High School Musical 3 arrives in theatres on 10/24. AND I AM TOTALLY GOING TO SEE IT. I think I can convince Rob to watch it with me. :D Fourth. My best friends and I have our annual Girls' weekend scheduled for the end of the month. It'll be an awesome weekend of spa treatments and girly time. Hmmm. Now that I see it all listed here, I have lots of good things to look forward to this month. I'm excited! Posted by Kel at 11:19 PM | Comments (1) |
